Marsh Barton (Exeter) Brunel industrial estate (Newton Abbot)

Hi I have recently learned of lines that led into both industrial estates back in the day and wondered if there were any pictures anyone had just out of interest as I have lived close to both estates in the past. The marsh Barton estate seemed to have had a junction off the Teign valley line...

    Hidden Teignmouth tunnel

Hi. I had a conversation with someone today who told me about an abandoned tunnel under the hills of Teignmouth that was built during a time when the line was going to bypass Teignmouth. It's rough location is under the road that leads at the A380 out of Teignmouth towards Ashcombe etc. I just...

Newton Abbot to Heathfield Railway Revival Group propose reopening Heathfield line

I wonder if Gilpin scrap metal and the smaller scrap metal yard at Teigngrace could make any use of the reopened line the same way the scrap metal in Marsh Barton the other end of the TVL does with scrap metal trains? Then again if the could benefit from it would they have done it already?

Newton Abbot to Heathfield Railway Revival Group propose reopening Heathfield line

I love your idea of connecting with Paignton and extending out to Bovey or possibably Chudleigh. I see real potential in that. I'm as you am also not sold on the idea of involving the SDR in any way and don't see any benefit from it other than maybe the odd special train. I'm also unsure on...

Newton Abbot to Heathfield Railway Revival Group propose reopening Heathfield line

It's not the first time I've heard about the gauge issue but it's confuses me as a few years ago a big 7 or 8 seat intercity went on the line? In regards to platforms I believe the old platform that was used to the Teign valley line is still in tact although very overgrown. It's the one...

    Exeter city basin branch

Hi Dave I'm afraid I must be to young to remember the signal box although I have seen pictures of it since. We used to travel fromSt Davids to anywhere between Dawlish Warren and Paignton back in the 90's for our beach days out so it's possible it was there I just never noticed?

    Exeter city basin branch

Hi Does anyone have any pictures of the old city basin line located just passed st Thomas station at the same point the teign valley line joined the main line. Growing up in Exeter I clearly remember there being a set of buffers just off the main road near haven banks but never really...

    Devon lines old pictures

May have answered my own question upon finding some more pics. Platforms 1 2 and 3 have always been the same, 4 is still visible in some parts just outside the ticket office but the car park has been built up level with the platform edge but it still visible at the end of platform 3. 5...

Great pics thanks. How did the platform layout at the station go as I see in one of the pics it has platforms 4&6 side by side? I remember one of the first times I caught a train from Newton I nearly missed it as I ignorantly assumed platform 1 was the first platform you arrive on and not...

I've spent lots of time looking through their website they have so many pics it's easy to lose yourself. I also found a site called western thunder but you can't enlarge any pictures for some reason which is a shame. I'm still struggling to get any info on the old weaponery yard at...

    Devon lines old pictures

Thanks for the info. It would make sense now for the yard to have existed in the mid 90s as I know people who's parents used to work down there.

    Devon lines old pictures

Thanks Bertie that's the area I was talking about. So interesting to see it like that against how it is now. The picture I was talking about isn't in the Flickr link as it's a black and white pic taken from up on the hill the other side of the yard but your pics are still very interesting...
