Why people don't travel by train...

once you've bought a car it's game over for the train. saw a thread in which a rail employee was saying, re yellow line on platform, "if you don't want to get shouted at, don't cross the line"! no one with any self respect is going to pay through the nose for that sort of treatment.

    Future of TPE

one of the railway's biggest problems is that the customer is the government, not the passengers.

Should the Stocksbridge Line be saved now for passenger use, before it is too late?

the local MP, who has connections with the Fox Valley people, tried to get something off the ground a while ago. might have been a levelling up scheme, can't remember now. it didn't go anywhere, the whole thing was just Tories making a noise about spending money. 1677760341 re. onward to...

I'm getting uncomfortable reading the disputes forum now - they are making me lose confidence in traveling with Advance tickets.

the railway is a hostile environment so far as I'm concerned. I'm pretty sure of the rules going a couple of stops down the line with the local monopoly trainco, but any more than that? not likely. bought a long distance ticket once and was given the choice of "any permitted" or "not via...

I'm living a decent life on state pension + minimal pension credit. no debts for anything but I've always lived on the cheap so could be difficult if you're used to expensive holidays, new car every now and again etc etc

went to the tvm today to buy a ticket PNS DBD as above, but there was no railcard option for s yorks senior pass. my understanding is that penistone - denby dale comes under south yorkshire. this is something of a hardy perennial, but haven't seen any discussion of it referencing the senior...
