    Bus would not pull off

Hi all I was on a single decker bus in west london this morning. The bus successfully managed to pick up passengers at the first 3 stops, however at the 4th stop, after the doors closed the bus refused to move. The driver restarted it twice but still no joy. I noticed that the hatch above...

    Bus held up by EPOs

I was in a pub in Ealing Broadway yesterday evening and people were talking about the woman who had been issued a £80 Fixed Penalty Notice for pouring her coffee down a drain. A fellow in the pub mentioned that he had recently got on a bus at Ealing Broadway to go and pick his son up from...

Travel card journey is more expensive than PAYG

********** Blushes ************* Yes you are correct. I had incorrectly assumed that it was 7AM rather than 6.30AM. My apologies to TFL, and for wasting everyone else's time.

Travel card journey is more expensive than PAYG

Was there a peak and off peak system when purchasing single journey paper tickets? Had i travelled via a route that didn't require out of station interchanges the correct fare would have been applied. I don't understand why the system is unable to charge the correct fare. It strikes me as...

Travel card journey is more expensive than PAYG

Hi all I currently have a zone 3-5 travelcard. Yesterday I had to travel to zone 2. Although I entered Ruislip Gardens station off peak (6.45 AM), my interchange (at White City/Wood Lane) was approx 07.10 AM. When I got to Hammersmith (H&C) I was charged £1.70 for the single zone...

    safe distance between tube trains

Hi all. At 19.10 this evening I was on the eastbound central line platform at Notting hill station. The train on the platform was terminating at White city. As it pulled out of the station, I could see the next train, to North Acton, sitting in the tunnel, it only seemed to between 30 and 50...

Ealing Broadway Duty Station Manager contact details

You are legally obliged to provide them with your name and address. Failure to do so is an offence. Providing false information is an offence. They are not legally entitled to ask you for ID, but in the majority of cases they will ask, doing so reduces the need to phone through and ask for a...

Ealing Broadway Duty Station Manager contact details

And if it wasn't a fiver, but a letter or a receipt or a tissue? I think that you can see where I am going with this one. These rackets know that Joe Public will do a quick Google and discover that if they go to court and lose (because they can't afford legal representation) they will end...

Ealing Broadway Duty Station Manager contact details

I do not have an issue with local authorities employing staff (directly) to enforce bylaws. Litter is a problem that needs to be addressed. However that approach needs to be co-ordinated. Provide bins, educate the public, those that refuse to comply? Fine them. We are talking about for profit...

Ealing Broadway Duty Station Manager contact details

Watching the "officers" at EB yesterday, they completely ignored two massive guys that dropped their fags as they walked off. Moments later the officers collared a timid short female who dropped a filter-less roll up To be fair, all three of the parties had littered but as a (recent) non...

Ealing Broadway Duty Station Manager contact details

I am not defending littering. Apropos acceptability, do you realise that if a fiver falls out of your pocket whilst you are walking along you have littered (assuming that you hadn't noticed and continued walking, thereby leaving it)? DEFRA suggest that environment protection officers give...

Ealing Broadway Duty Station Manager contact details

Over the last few weeks, a private security firm working on behalf of Ealing Council have been handing out fixed penalty notices (supposedly) for littering. They spend a few hours a day milling around the entrance to Ealing Broadway station, doling out "fines" to travellers about to enter the...

    TFL price anomolies- tough luck.

my history shows as 06.29: Ruislip Gardens- White city £0.00 06.39: Ruislip Gardens- Hammersmith C&H £0.00 07.06: Ruislip Gardens- Richmond £0.00 07.24: Ruislip Gardens- North sheen £2.30 (I assume those times are the exit, rather than entry...

    TFL price anomolies- tough luck.

I am losing the will to live... This week I have a 2-5 travel card as I am working in Barnes all week. This morning I needed to pick a tool up from North Sheen. I took the unapproved route. At Richmond I thought it might be prudent to swipe out and then in (I did ask the SW staff for...

. Rather than seeing that as a positive, I see the National Rail surcharge as being a negative, and one that travelcard holders are exempt from. Journeys from South Ruislip to Marylebone (Chiltern Rail) are additionally charged at normal tube prices. Here is a list of fares that are...

    TFL price anomolies- tough luck.

The Notting Hill Gate route suggested by the TFL route finder sends you via zone 1. It assumes that you want the fastest route. And yes, I did use the pink validator. If you read one of my earlier posts, you will see that I have since discovered that my journey would have been cheaper if I...

    TFL price anomolies- tough luck.

It is effin' bonkers though. I want to travel to Baron's court, I can take any route, go one stop further (whilst staying in the same zone) and price jumps from £1.50 to £3.10 because the system that sees that I am travelling east on the Piccadilly line decides that I approaching from the east.
