Use of 'emergency services dealing with an incident' for disruption attribution in circumstances where a person has been hit by a train

This issue was dealt with by research commissioned by Transport Focus on behalf of Network Rail in 2015. “Emergency services dealing with an incident” was considered the optimum term. The research can be found Here

    ECML Wires Down 02.09.20

Several issues here - some of which is the result of where trains ended up last night. Peterborough Spital Sidings only received 3 out of its 6 Class 700 FLUs and such.

    ECML Wires Down 02.09.20

The emergency isolation took out a large section; took until 1745 for the OHL gang to shorten the isolation due to access issues via a farmers field. Once the isolation was shortened, the route off towards Cambridge was available.

    Latest on Rail Operating Centres

GTR already have a member of staff located at York ROC- and have done since around March 2018 - operating as a fringe to the Great Northern Train Service Manager and Thameslink East Train Service Manager who are based in the GTR Control Centre at Three Bridges ROC (Sussex Route Control). The...

Gatwick Express class 387 in the brave new world

Simply put there were so few Airport passengers travelling, that the Gatwick Express dedicated service was suspended. However, the trains still need rotating and there are still Gatwick Express crews that require work, so the GX 387 fleet are operating a majority of the Southern 1A**...

    Problems at Ore

Operational incident is correct in the form of a double SPAD. The need for “destructive testing” is because the SPAD is alleged to have not been a SPAD at all. The driver suggests the signals were at proceed; the system detected a SPAD. If the driver can see a proceed on the ground when the...

Do not travel! [Kings Cross weekend closures Jan/Feb 2020]

Limits of the block are different and it knocks about 35-40 minutes off the rail replacement bus time to Bedford.

Trivia: Promotional "Change At _ For _" announcements?

There were all sorts of permutations that were possible here because the cost for the recordings were a function of studio time not the number of sound bites. So various clips were recorded “WE ARE FSTVL” - the festival at Upminster; so that for 2 days a year “change at Upminster for bus...

Train fire at London Bridge (08/04)

10mph on plain track and 3mph over points and crossings. At such speed there’s quite a significant gapping risk. So needed to make the combined formation long. Unlikely to go down the Sydenham Corridor as going into Selhurst Depot from the Norwood Junction end - don’t want to gap across the...

    Thameslink Services/Timetable from May 20th 2018

Trespass Incident at Tulse Hill, emergency traction current discharge. Terminated and detrained there as nowhere to go that wouldn’t have spread further delay.

OHLE Damage at Alexandra Palace (01/05)

Couldn’t get *anything* out of Hornsey due to the isolation limits. As such GTR GN were having to manage with only whatever was on network at the time the incident started. The initial isolation was extensive and then gradually reduced.

Disruption on SEML at Sevenoaks 25/9

Tunnel is pretty grim anyway, however, reports are that due to poor air quality, the track workers needed to leave the tunnel more often than had been planned for, in order to get fresh air. Clearly in such a long tunnel, getting out and then back in to position for work to resume, became timely.

Disruption on SEML at Sevenoaks 25/9

Was an emergency possession to remedy an emergency speed restriction of (I believe) 5mph that had been imposed in giving up the block so the work certainly needed completing. I believe Network Rail also addressed a defective IBJ within the block.

    Class 171 problems

I also gather there is an issue with new wheel set availability as a time for need has coincided with factory shutdown at the supplier.

    Class 387

The Class 387s only came with a limited mileage condition on the lease. This restricted the number of services it could operate - nothing to do with on train cleaning. Stop markers were a consequence of the difference in the viewing position of the marker out of the window which is different...

    Class 387

They did, by allowing 6x357s to be used elsewhere in the timetable - strengthening from 8-car 357 to 12-car 357 etc and in some cases on the Tilbury's from 4 to 8. So those services benefited. However, the challenge of which services to allocate the Class 387s themselves to, with the 2+2...

    c2c Train Wi-Fi

Whilst not being trumpeted massively yet, today saw the long awaited Wi-Fi go-live on c2c, following significant work to the Class 357 fleet. As with the station wi-fi, the train wi-fi will be completely free to use. It is accompanied by c2c's version of the Virgin BEAM product for on-board...

[Trivia] Longest rail replacement bus journey

That 00:10 (GMT) Brighton-Bedford appears to be set down only north of Haywards Heath, so it should on stop at the stations that people on at Haywards want to go to. So it could theoretically end up express and get in much much earlier than 07:06 (BST).
