    bull head rail

I'm sure most of the Island Line is using the original track from when the railway was opened! It certainly feels that way!

    how do you issue

The name change is part of fares simplification to make it easier for customers buying tickets from TVMs.

Heathrow to Dover - a few questions

It is available online, but not through the ATOS booking engine used on Southeastern's website. You can buy them through any TOC using thetrainline.com booking engine.

    SWT - No Journeycheck?

FGW's JourneyCheck page has the same content as the old SWT JourneyCheck page but has a different layout and is FGW's branding. SWT use a feed from National Rail instead of Journey Check.

    Help please!!!

Advance fares become available about 12 weeks before travel, so they should be available for both journeys by mid-May.

    SWT 1st Class Weekend Supplement

I don't think you could class it as "entrapment". No one is being persuaded to commit a criminal offence for personal gain. If it ever got to court, the judge would question why the RPI didn't make an attempt to check the passenger's ticket. If they could supply a satisfactory answer, the...

TVMs - buying tickets from other locations

It might be due to the high frequency of trains from the station. At stations with few trains (e.g. half hourly) they should offer Off Peak tickets before 0930

TVMs - buying tickets from other locations

Might be an error in the way EMT have set up their TVMs. I think the TVMs can either offer all ticket types at any time of day (e.g. will offer Anytime and Off Peak at 0600) or you have to specify which ticket types are available from which time. (e.g. Anytime tickets until 0859, then Off Peak...

TVMs - buying tickets from other locations

As DB is still state owned, I think there's a bit more of an impetous to make their TVMs more functional. --- old post above --- --- new post below --- All SWT TVMs allow you to buy tickets for travel the following day. It's available from 1500 and only offers Anytime fares

TVMs - buying tickets from other locations

I don't think any TVM is linked to the timetable database or NRS and I doubt any one TOC would want to take on the cost of developing it.

There's a badly written leaflet! Glad I'm not travelling on Virgin over Easter!

East Coast rebranding cost over £600k

You'd have to get rid of TOC specific tickets. You can't expect someone to recognise an East Coast train by a tiny label at the end of each carriage! --- old post above --- --- new post below --- No, but brand identity is very important to companies to help them stand out in a market - even...

Woking to London Bridge season Ticket

The gates at Waterloo will not retain a Woking - London Terminals ticket as it is valid for travel to Charing Cross, London Bridge, Blackfriars and Cannon Street. If you change at Clapham Junction, you can travel to Victoria.

    CCTV fitted to EC trains

I think you get a different type of customer on Intercity services as they generally have longer stops and regular staff patrols throughout the journey. Commuter services with their frequent stops, people constantly getting on and off and, sometimes, areas they serve, means that they're more...

Stopped for ages, engines still running

It's probably better to keep the engines running for fuel efficency and for the overall life of the engine. Voyagers can't have long periods with the engine switched off and need to be run every 8-12 hours to prevent damage to them.

    Help re lost property

To be honest, unless he's worked in railway retailing environment, he's not going to know all the three letter codes for all the stations in the UK. Never crossed my mind that BNS might be anything other than Birmingham New Street. Lot's of people abbreviate Southampton Airport Parkway to SAP...
