Comprehensive Spending Review - Wed 20 Oct - what's for the chop in our world ?

I'm guessing here totally. GWML electrification scrapped. But a modified IEP scheme to compensate with new stock etc. ( the IEP seems to have turned around in the rail magazines where electrification certainly has went quiet. I think the IEP re-imagined will be the positive, but with a lot of...

DB through the tunnel this year?

An aside, but I was interested that a german insurance/banking group being reported today as a bidder for the ctrl/hs1. If that happened, it'd certainly help clear any nonsense from the French over train specs.

    Electric HSTs is it possible

Cheers had forgotten whifflet was to be added to the argyle line/ Lanarkshire routes. I guess the introduction of the 380's will play a part in what eventually comes in, be interesting to see what happens.

    Electric HSTs is it possible

If the strathclyde infill electrifications are done, then the most likely EMU's will be tge 314's or 320's. I'm guessing new stock will benefit some argyle line runs.

Depends on the nimbys in the chilterns. Just think how much angier their wee campaign will get if it's 4 tracks wide.

In 2014 will first keep scotrail

For me, first really improved the franchise since 2004. At the moment my perception is that they're doing a good job. This coming year could be the toughest with a new throughroute with the A2B and the introduction of the 380's and cascade of the other emu's and dmu's. Potentially it's as...

    What next for class 320s?

Interesting post by me123. I think it'll be interesting to see how it works out. The introduction of the 380's before the timetable change will be interesting to see how that works for a presumably small number of 334's getting put in the new scotrail colour scheme and also for the 320's...

    Glasgow to Paisley, 3rd line?

The third rail allows overtaking as there are inverclyde services stopping at cardonald and the hillington stations to get bypassed. Certainly it may have made more sense with GARL, but it's a very busy route between Paisley and Glasgow and certainly the capacity with the longer carriages of...

    ScotRail DOO dispute

As a passenger and someone not involved in the railways, found the 'safety' argument a strange one and the strike action also didn't really affect emu services in the former strathclyde area. I'd have 100% backed the RMT if they had made a case on the fact that the existing conductors or the...

    East Coast rumours?

Hi, probably a silly question but is the body shell of the pendolino big enough to say stick an mtu diesel engine? I guess all the other electrical mcgubbins would need tweaked about and stuff, but could that work? I'm thinking either as two diesel ends like a HST or at one end like the proposed...

East Coast new livery Mk4 set at Doncaster

The scotrail swoosh was Horrible. I much prefer the saltire, it'll improve once more EMU's carry it. Nationally, the long distance TOC's should be made to have a single 'Intercity' livery with a thought being given to common liveries fir local area services. Question is- why repaint...

    Hillington Stations question

    Behold the Borismaster

that was my first thought, very similar to the body shape of atlanteans that used to be operated by strathclyde buses in Glasgow (and elsewhere) is it an Alexanders 'A' type body, that's been passed off as a routemaster?

Flying Scotsman to cut East Coast rail journey times

What can the DFT find in 2 years? What's available off the shelf? I'm curious about the New Pendolino, but is there a point having tilting stock on the ECML. is IEP dead? Would the DFT go for loco hauled + new carriages?

    ScotRail repaint countdown

Hi there, I think I read elsewhere (scot-rail forum) that the 320's could run through the Argyle line section. I dunno if that means additional equipment has recently been installed on platforms for them. (Could well be wrong) I use the 320's now and again and i don't think they're that bad...
