    Class 331 at Stoke-on-Trent

I believe some form of disruption meant 2 sets ended up at the Hadfield end which both needed to be in Manchester, one was likely locked out. Yet Styal (nothing there!) gets an hourly Sunday service and has had one for nearly 5 years now. The Crewe line also gets far later Saturday trains than...

    Class 331 at Stoke-on-Trent

If there's one train that needs some help (6 car please!) it's the Saturday 21:46 Manchester to Stoke (last train to anywhere south of Macclesfield on a Saturday) Had the 'pleasure' of it on Easter Saturday - came in late from Hadfield as a 6 car set, cue everyone piling on only to be told it's...

    Busiest Manchester to London service

14th January 2022 - 1650 MKC - SOT, Easily got a seat, with empty seat next to me and others available throughout 28th January 2022 - 1740 MKC - SOT, No seats available at all, stood in vestibule. (Side note: Nuneaton call seemed very very quiet, barely anyone got on/off) 4th February 2022 -...

Trivia: Less obvious journeys that will become quicker via HS2

Congleton to Birmingham Not on HS2 obviously, but using the released capacity Congleton will have 2 or even 3 tph, 7 days a week, to Manchester, Stoke, Birmingham or even London.

    323s vs 331s on Northern

A 319 does fit in Stoke’s Bay platform, however it’s a tight squeeze!

    323s vs 331s on Northern

For the Stoke line: 0600 MAC-CNG-SOT is usually a double 331 (Not been running on covid timetables, returns in May) 0629 SOT-MAN-BPN is formed from the above Everything else is 323s usually, although from December 2019 up until covid lockdown the severely limited Sunday service was primarily...

    Potential HS2 services

Of course not as a park and ride. Services at Congleton are primarily for people living there who want to travel for work and leisure purposes. The ‘car traffic’ is from other parts of Congleton. No one is using it from far flung places as a P&R. I think you’re underestimating the size of the...

    Potential HS2 services

Congleton would benefit massively from a Birmingham service as many commute to Stafford/Wolves/Brum. London service would be great but I personally would take any service that’s better than the current insufficient 1 tph Mon-Sat and abysmal 6 tpd Sundays!

    Uses for ex-Grand Central Mk4s?

Thought that may be the case. I miss the Bristol services as my morning connection time at Stoke is now 30 minutes instead of 5!

    Uses for ex-Grand Central Mk4s?

Could said service not use the path from the old XC MAN-Bristol service (xx05 from MAN) + (xx31 from BHM). Timings may be slightly out though given it's different rolling stock. (Assuming the Bristol one isn't coming back anytime soon)

    Under/Over-Served areas in the network.

Congleton station being 30m walk away from the town CENTRE (not the town, just the high street, there are loads of estates and houses within a 1, 5 and 10 minute walk from the station) is not a reason to not serve it properly. Mon-Sat should be 2 tph, Sunday is completely unacceptable and...
