Over the years there have been a number of direct service from Liverpool to Glasgow - seems to be one of the first to get the chop when there is a review.
Currently, there's 2 direct services a day from Liverpool to Glasgow. At any other time there's an hourly service from Liverpool to...
Started on this, but when it asks for age and salary without an opt out, then it gets binned (or gets answered in the most unrealistic way)
Who funds this, is it Northern themselves or is it just some chatbot that's lonely?
Get that a lot with day rangers where they won't work on barriers in Liverpool or Wigan Wallgate but quite happily work in Leeds and Manchester Oxford Road.
I got a full house playing "Buzzword Bingo" on that document. Given how much core route duplication they have with XC, I would have thought merging both companies would be an option.
Will be watching this one. Had the same problem back in June where I tried to get a walk on cheap day single from Glasgow to Preston, but none of the apps or even the TVM in Central would sell it. Strange as like you say 1st class is usually pretty quiet on this leg.
Nothing to worry about living on Tennyson. The trains on the South Fylde line are running on continuous welded rail, so no clickity clack type of noise. Service wise, they are running 2 car 150 / 156 or on a posh day 158 - sometimes sets are doubled up at the weekend into 4 car sets. Since...
There aren't. Vehicles have to be DDA compliant where most coach operators don't have a full fleet of DDA compliant vehicles. The way round this is either if the people organising replacement buses turn a blind eye or if they use minibuses instead of coaches.
Most PSV buses are DDA compliant...
South Fylde Line interesting bits
Going past Royal Lytham golf course
Going past Blackpool Airport (when it had decent traffic) looking towards Blackpool Tower
Going past Blackpool Pleasure Beach
Not so interesting bits
The slow stretch between Wrea Green and Moss side waiting for the level...
Hopefully soon. Travelled 1st last November and December and can only describe the new menu as utter garbage. Even the old British Rail ham butty would be better than this.
Even more disappointed that despite boarding at 10:30, the breakfast option wasn't available but I could have "afternoon...
Interestingly enough, the business plan for the upgrade for the South Fylde line was published here and one of the things being considered was a low cost electrification option (well, one sentence). I didn't think there was such a thing in the railway world as a "low cost" option!
Usually the Windermere branch is top of the list to get services cancelled along with the South Fylde branch. I wonder if someone in Northern HQ forgot about it?
Depot and test track was build on the old Govan Branch. Don't know when the Govan branch closed, but the depot was built from 1977 as part of the Glasgow modernisation.
Can't see it having any impact. Even when Blackpool were in the Premiership, I can't remember seeing any changes to the service on the South Fylde line from the normal standard Saturday service.
As someone closed the previous thread down Here
Minor update from the local MP:-
"Work on our successful Restoring Your Railway bid for the South Fylde line has already begun.
The Government backed the scheme, to install a passing loop on the line and double services, and handed us up to...
My Lancs Day Ranger was rejected by staff at Wigan North Western with their hand held scanner thing. The VT staff member in question said it wouldn't be valid as Wigan was considered part of Greater Manchester rather than Lancashire. Oddly enough, the gates at Manchester Oxford Road worked...
