    Merseyrail again.

507/508s regularly welded themselves to the 3rd rail for hours at a time in the 90s/00s on the Ellesmere Port branch in various levels of ice

London Overground services missing out stops to recover the service

This run fast is to get the train back in the correct order towards Stratford so the train is then in the platform at Stratford at the correct time to avoid delaying other services, and on time for its return working. Generally this run fast is only done when the train is exactly one path out...

Conflicting information between platform and train - which one to trust?

Elizabeth line platforms displays are due to be connected to Darwin soon so that info should improve. All train fleets need connecting to Darwin really. Whilst it's possible to manually change calling patterns from some controls for some fleets, the control will likely struggle to update that...

Is this what you call a SPAD?

NLL ARS has no link to Trust until Luminate traffic management lands later in the year so it wouldn't have known about the new routing from the VSTP

ORR Press Release - Late-Notice Cancellations

Are you sure this is correct? Darwin takes the CIF file from capacity planning. A P coded cancellation isn't in the CIF as it's being done under control arrangements and Darwin doesn't take cancellations from TRUST. My understanding was the trains are manually cancelled in Darwin (or other...

    Merriman at Transport Committee 18/1

Current agreements at least at some TOCs allow a set of legal diagrams to be created, but if the reps decide they want less work content than the proposed diagrams, they can fail to agree new rosters until such point as the number of diagrams are increased to make the work content easier...

Euston departure board to be moved

Whilst Overground typically runs from 9/10. They can and do depart from any platform. All the DC stock is dual voltage.

Which section of line is 'signed' by the fewest TOC traincrew?

It will be the odd moves to a depot off route which a driver or driver manager that's been there ages does. Although these are probably getting rarer with ROG about. Overground to Hornsey and Chiltern to Willesden have happened previously

    Train Control Management System (TCMS)

Depends on the TOC. We're actively giving some quick fixes back to the driver without calling anyone as we don't have the time the phonecalls take. On a metro railway 2 minutes delay is 2 minutes too many!

RMT dispute with NR over Automatic Route Setting (ARS), but what are details ?

It's a change to the timetabling data that ARS signals. The controller's are acting as timetablers based on updated information for the day. As for safety concerns, if Milton Keynes had sent through an STP amended plan for a small section of the day, would the signallers know in advance the ARS...

Getting everything in the right place after incidents

If only! Generally it's looking at each train one by one based on which one needs looking at first. Where is it, where does it need to be next and where does its crew need to be. If it's close to the end of the day, where should it be at the end of the day, does it or the crew run any last...

East Anglia fleet future cascade options

But what's the value in swapping 4 x 2 cars for 4 x 2 cars and paying to modify/relivery them in the process? If Chiltern wanted to they could change the interiors of their own 172s to be 168s.

East Anglia fleet future cascade options

The Chiltern and LOROL 172s are compatible with each other and the rest of the Chiltern fleet, but not the LM fleet due to coupler pins.

East Anglia fleet future cascade options

Chiltern will want more stock not less, it seems stange to move the LOROL/Chiltern 172s to LM where they won't be compatible with 172s there.

Stopping short on a route VIA ticket

Thanks for the replies. I've found a previous thread talking about similar tickets and that the eRG has been hacked not to show them. Definitely high up the danger list!

Stopping short on a route VIA ticket

Morning, Is it possible to stop short on a route via ticket having not yet reached the via point? The ticket in question has a LONDON routing in the yellow pages and a VIA point that can be achieved after having reached LONDON.
