    What are these?

Cool - more interesting than I thought then!

    What are these?

I see these often near platforms - I've always wondered what they are? If I were to guess, given it has electric power - is it some way to tell if a train is in a platform block?

GWR Class 769 information. (Units no longer with GWR - Off Lease March 23)

Would the 769s potentially mean direct Henley on Thames to Paddington fast trains again as opposed to the change that happened when the 387s came in.

    Ticket barrier problems!

In a similarly related thing, I'm having issue with a GWR season ticket not working on a break of journey, quite suddenly, even on different tickets as have changed tickets since.

Best place for a pint within view of a railway station/line?

The Sheffield Tap which is right on the platforms at Sheffield. The Sheaf View pub beer garden has a great view of the mainline heading out of Sheffield Station to the South West.

Commuting Bracknell to City of London - double my salary...

I don't have experience with this particular commute, but my current one is; 40min train > 6 min train > 15min bus or 30min train > 30min bus I don't mind it really, I tend to get in around 8.45 and leave around 4.45. I get to watch a bit of netflix on the journey, or listen to music, or...

GWR Cornish Night Riviera Sleeper and GWR Class 57 updates from Long Rock

Are all the sleeping birth carriages refurbed now? Or is it still pot luck on what you get?

[Map] Overground, Crossrail and Thameslink as an S-Bahn system

I like this map concept. I really dislike how 'overground' lines don't have any sort of designation, especially when looking at the now text only planned engineering works, so giving them numbers makes real sense.

Slight changes you would make to liveries to make them nicer

This is probably a wider issue, but I miss the yellow stripe on the first class carriages on GWR. Always useful when seeing the train from a distance, and going 'ah, this is in reverse formation!'

    Class 387

For me its the volume on the 387s, its so loud.

    Doncaster station revamp announced

Hope the interior stays the same. One of the most underrated ticket halls on the network I reckon!

    Class 387

Shame they won't be used ad-hoc, like you say. But it'll be nice to see them running on test runs either way. Cheers all for the delivery information, pretty good progress then!

    Class 387

For GWR do we know how many units are still to be delivered? I wonder how soon we'll see the RDG to PAD stopping services start to use the 387s after the testing is complete in September. I've had a few trips on the 387s now, and I really like em. The aircon works, good mix of airline seats...
