Interesting reading, the "true" numbers resonate with me ,I am regularly delayed by 3,4,5,6 minutes on journeys from Renfrewshire to Ayrshire, usually with zero explanation ( for a 30 min journey)

Being a frugal Scotsman I have a ticket for Friday part of which is advance from Edinburgh EDB to york with EC, the other is the glasgow to edinburgh piece. Can I assume I can board the XC train from central that goes to Edinburgh EDB and use the ticket or do I have to use it on Scotrail , ie...
In the last few weeks at Johnstone station there have been multiple Scotrail staff on each side of the station checking tickets, with the draconian measure of having the gate locked on one side of the station.
I have to question the logic of this, there are barrier checks at Paisley most days...
Going to grand national on saturday from Liverpool Central, when does it start to get busy , anyone been , ie what time would be best to travel
Also do the trains have loos ? ( beer seal etc)
I have noticed since the introduction of the 380's that they now seem to stop right at the end of the platforms (even if its a 4 car unit) so making punters walk the length of the platform out of the shelters etc. Irvine station a good example.

Was coming home from Ayr around 3 yesterday, and the Royal Scotsman was on the adjacent platform, no one seemed to be on it, wondered where is was going etc. Looked great especially the dining car
First day back at work for 1000's and signal failure meltdown at Glasgow, trains cancelled at a whim. Seems the engineering work done over Xmas isnt up to scratch, or is it a coincidence ?
Bro on train over 2 hours late, his train is shunting the train in front , which broke down, and now a train in front has broke down. Fyi if anyone is travelling later expect severe delays (Glasgow to Brum/London)
A wee bit of snow and some cold weather and everything grinds to a halt. However the crowning glory is the "communications" process. Was waiting for the 11:12 to Kilmarnock, naturally it was late. We were told that carriages for this service would arrive in 5 mins ( train was already 10 mins...
Anyone else have the joy of travelling this line ? For last few weeks I have gotten the 9:15 from Johnstone to Troon......... last 4 weeks, every week the toilet is out of order on the train . Also train yesterday must have been doing about 20 mph was 10 mins late. No explaination
As my title suggests I regularly travel along the Ayr-Glasgow line, maybe 5-6 times per week. However I generally do not return same day. I find it disappointing that I cannot purchase a 10 journey ticket to save me money. I feel we are not "encouraged" enough to use trains as it is, but there...
