    Music and ale trains

I'm ok with that, I don't see it as inaccurate, outdated or insulting. Just observational. Though I know there is of course a percentage of football fans who are not alcoholic, testerone-charged tattooed loonies, and that's cool.

    Music and ale trains

I was at Huddersfield station yesterday around midday when it suddenly got very busy with drunks as a train from Manchester arrived. At first I just assumed it was the local neanderthals and knuckle draggers going to get their fix of men kicking a ball around, but there was no football on...

Trivia -Station names that form the answer to a question

What happened when the BBC lost the Children in Need mascot? They had to make a New Pudsey.

    Transdev Blazefield

It is speculated on the Travel West Yorkshire forum and Transdev enthusiasts facebook group that Alex Hornby may have left the company. It is also noted that he has been absent from Twitter since mid February (very rare for him). Remember this is *speculated*, not fact...

    When will excessive announcements cease?

I had a conductor make the announcement 'Northern tickets are not valid on this service' a grand total of 7 times just between Leeds and Dewsbury last week on a TPE service to Liverpool Lime Street! Though I have no doubt that he still came across someone with a Northern ticket.

Bus driver with Asperger's Syndrome wins payout after harassment by colleagues

There are also some (rather interesting) posts on their Facebook page from parents of children who use their school buses. Including buses not showing up, drivers being rude ect... Plus the whole Horsforth No. 30 saga (of which I have posted about on the Travel West Yorkshire forum); it really...

    First Group: General Discussion

Unless there's been a development in fitting guidewheels to Streetdecks, I don't think they'll be replacing the B9s. They did have a couple of guidewheel fitted streetdecks a while back and were out testing them but nothing seemed to come of it.

Trivia: Bus services outside London that spend most of their time stuck in congestion

I don't have data, but the Leeds - Keighley 60 can be horrendous at rush hour out of Leeds. It gets stuck in Leeds City Centre, then Kirkstall Road, then Kirkstall Morrisons/ Kirkstall Bridge, then Rodley roundabout, then from Calverley down to Greengates, then going down through Windhill into...

Bus drivers listening to the radio, Yes or no?

I used to use the 060 between Leeds and Liverpool every week, and I can remember almost all drivers having the radio on, or even their own music sometimes. One driver in particular loved Meatloaf, in fact he even looked a bit like him

Bus drivers listening to the radio, Yes or no?

When Connexions used to run the 38 in Leeds, one driver always used to have to radio blaring. I thought it made for quite a nice atmosphere. I've seen plenty of First Leeds drivers with earphones in (including someone who's a driver mentor); though I'm sure inspectors wouldn't be best pleased!

Bus operators cease issuing paper tickets for concessionary travel

I don't think I've ever seen a ticket issued for an OAP pass in West Yorkshire, I have though for companions of disabled passengers.

What kind of bus enthusiast are you?

I have never been particularly interested in specific vehicle types, engines, gearboxes etc. I'm not someone who will sit next to the engine to listen to a 'beautiful ZF', but I still naturally have a good knowledge of all bus types and will always enjoy seeing a variety of types around. My...

Are Trans Pennine Express reliable ?

I have been back out and about on the railways around West Yorkshire this week for the first time in about 5 months. I can't believe how much worse TPE have gotten in that time. It seemed like half of the journeys I saw yesterday in Leeds and Huddersfield were cancelled, and the journeys that...

When will Northern fix automated announcements stating the wrong next station?

I have noticed there is frequently also a mix up between Bradford Interchange and New Pudsey announcements, leading to some very confused passengers who might not be familiar with the route. It even confuses me if it's dark out and I'm half asleep. It's certainly no good for passengers who rely...

    Transdev Blazefield

They run Wharfedale services from Tockwith now, I don't see how this would be different, apart from the the 965 not really being able to run off a school duty unless there is a big gap in the timetable.

    Busway/Guided Busway advice

Just a quick note that the no. 5 and 5a don't use the guideway on York Road.

    BusTimes.Org

I swear by it. It has everything I need as an enthusiast, or passenger. It offers me far more information than any operator's app, and I often find the user interface easier to navigate.
