Most Frequent Routes With Prefixes and Suffixes (or no numbers at all)?

The Thanet LOOP route is unnumbered - the name "LOOP" is use as a number substitute. This is a very regular route around Thanet (Margate, Ramsgate), Kent - around every 7 minutes all day M-F but less frequent late at night or at weekends.

Exactly - excessive caution can be as dangerous to other motorists as lack of care!

You are certainly correct that many drivers lose their ability - or at least, it diminishes over time. I think a refresher test at (say) the ages of 50 and 70 would not be unreasonable - and maybe every 5 years from 70 onwards.

Thank you all for your kind thoughts - it is great to be on the road to recovery, even if that road is exceptionally long! :-)

Thanks to all forum members who posted to a thread regarding my motorbike accident last May (18.5 months ago now). Sorry it has taken me so long to return and acknowledge you, but the time has not been easy. :( To fill in information, to the extent that I can do so, I was knocked off my...

Guardian: "Penalised train passengers fight ticketing rules"

If we had the old fare structure, then everything you say would make perfect sense. But we don't. We have FAR cheaper Advance tickets (relative to fully priced flexible tickets), and in exchange for the SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper fares, there are simple-to-understand conditions. We could go...

Guardian: "Penalised train passengers fight ticketing rules"

Because the same railcard could be used to purchase any number of tickets. Buy 1 railcard - buy your whole group of friends discounted tickets! But the railway is a hugely publicly-subsidised business. Reducing fare income - which is what both of your suggestions would cause - just means...

    Some fares missing from brfares.com?

It's strange. Ticketing sites show the £4.90 (Any Permitted) and £5.00 (FCC only) fares only, not the £5.70 one which no longer seems to exist. Incidentally, has anyone noticed that TheTrainline.com (which I rarely use except for research purposes) now shows "peak hours" in a different colour...

TOD option not available for booking a London travelcard from EC

Nope, it's not applicable specifically to non-EC tickets. All of the <£22 transactions on my transaction history are Southeastern journeys. Perhaps the £22 limit applies to EC only journeys? Er ... no, because I've checked and I've got a £16 one of them on my Rewards history too. I've...

Guardian: "Penalised train passengers fight ticketing rules"

I'm sorry, but those suggestions are completely daft. Taking the first one: - You should be able to excess your Advance or Off-Peak ticket onboard to the next appropriate fare if your ticket is no longer valid; the railway wants repeat business, not to put people off. Right, so nobody...

    Some fares missing from brfares.com?

Yes, and all to the good of the customers. Unfortunately for most of my local journeys there is no competition and hence no downwards pressure on fares.

TOD option not available for booking a London travelcard from EC

As I've posted before, the £22 minimum does not appear to be applied. Quote from my EC Rewards statement: OK 3 17/04/2012 Purchase of ancillaries at 1 Point per £1.00 spent OK 12 20/03/2012 Standard Class Train Travel at 1 Point per £1.00 spent OK 15 20/03/2012 Standard Class Train...

    Some fares missing from brfares.com?

Ah, I see. Presumably on the next fares revisions there'll be a new FCC Only £4.80 single fare!

    Some fares missing from brfares.com?

There does seem to be a problem. From ECR to GTW (East Croydon to Gatwick) it does not show the £4.90 +Any Permitted single, but does show the £5.00 FCC Only single. Of course, the existence of the FCC Only fare is daft as nobody would possibly be best advised to buy it.

What if I dont have the money (Summons now received)

Perhaps a sadder mistake people make is thinking that they have grounds for appeal when - like this OP - they have none at all. Getting on the wrong train because you are late is not a ground for appeal. And entering a spurious appeal is not a ground for paying late. As per previous posts...

Guardian: "Penalised train passengers fight ticketing rules"

You make a very good point. It would help everyone significantly if the websites had clearer segregation between: - totally flexible (anytime) tickets - fairly flexible (off peak) tickets - totally inflexible (Advance) tickets These are not difficult concepts for people to understand...

Guardian: "Penalised train passengers fight ticketing rules"

Unfortunately, consumers often have no clue about economics. And they think that when they get to travel on a train journey which would, on a flexible ticket, cost £100, but they are able to pay a "bargain" £11.99 (and btw I've never seen a train fare of £11.99!) in exchange for the simple and...

    Ashford - Norwich & DLR

Guardian: "Penalised train passengers fight ticketing rules"

Whilst that all sounds fine and dandy, I can point to many, many situations where the fare on an advance 60-90 minutes later than a very cheap train, is hugely more expensive. If you allow a £10 (or whatever) upgrade fee, then that destroys the pricing structure as nobody will book the...

    Ashford - Norwich & DLR

All the fares from AFK to NRW include cross-London transfer so DLR from Stratford International to Stratford London should be no problem.
