End of the line for Paris’ iconic metro ticket

The Eurostar buffet was advertising that they had them last week but on asking, I was told that they no longer sold them.

    Renfe Reservations for Interrail

sure and the nuance under discussion is that if a train goes from A to B to C and all the odd number seats are taken from A to B and all the even number seats from B to C, then there will be no availability from A to C despite the train only ever being 50% full...

    Renfe Reservations for Interrail

It must be an issue for long journeys where any company insists on pre-booked tickets only. They lose sales from someone who would be happy to move seats part way through a long journey.

    Renfe Reservations for Interrail

Just for general information, I paid €6.85 for Madrid to Irun plus €4 each for Merida to Puertollano and for Puertollano to Madrid.

    Renfe Reservations for Interrail

So does that suggest that, when I was at Irun in the morning, and overnight a ticket had become available for Madrid to Merida, that there should have been an Interrail seat reservation available too? (I should have asked at the ticket office but was keen to grab the ticket when I could, even at...

    Renfe Reservations for Interrail

By way of an update: I turned up at Irun station the evening before I wanted to head towards Portugal - I already had a reservation for the next morning to Madrid but wanted to explore the option of getting to Vigo via Segovia etc. (where my reserved train would stop). I was told that the...

End of the line for Paris’ iconic metro ticket

I had 3 left over from about 5 years ago - one wouldn't work in the machine at Paris Nord, one did work, one remains un-tested... There was a manual ticket check at Montparnasse using little hand machines capable of checking validity of the paper ticket.

    Renfe Reservations for Interrail

Thanks for all your good work! I note that your link to the Spanish part of your guide includes a line saying, (that reservations can be booked), "At an SNCF (French railways) ticket office!" Is that still correct?

Spain. Irun to Pinhal Novo - thoughts on different routes?

I'll let you know how I get on. Your later route works I think on there being different schedules on different days of the week to allow a later departure from San Sebastian according to Seat61.

Spain. Irun to Pinhal Novo - thoughts on different routes?

RENFE recognises Segovia - Ourense - Santiago and also Ourense - Santiago - Vigo leg as connecting routes. But not the 2 combined: Segovia - Ourense - Santiago - Vigo ✅✅✅✅✅✅✅✅✅✅✅❎❎❎ Segovia - Ourense - Santiago - Vigo ❎❎❎❎ ✅✅✅✅✅✅✅✅✅✅ Of course 4 trains means twice as many...

Spain. Irun to Pinhal Novo - thoughts on different routes?

Thanks so much for the above thoughts. The idea of going via Guarda - or even down the Douro - are really great ones and I think I'll explore those for the return journey as I'm keen to get to Pinhal Novo late afternoon which I can best do I think with a morning start in Vigo I've therefore...

Interrail reservations on SNCF ticket machines

Just for the possible assistance of anyone else reading this thread - the RailEurope online booking seems to work well with no booking fees, and with a refund on an unwanted reservation coming back to my account within seconds. However obviously there will be situations where the ability to...

    Quick Interrail reservations in Italy

I went to the station at Giulianova last year with the intention of booking an interrail reservation for departure towards Bari 20 minutes later. However the booking office was closed. I went online to order through OBB but their website said it was too late for that train - this was maybe 15...

End of the line for Paris’ iconic metro ticket

I need to cross from Paris Nord to Paris Montparnasse - I've some old paper tickets which I see I paid 1.49 Euros for. Are they still valid please?

Spain. Irun to Pinhal Novo - thoughts on different routes?

I need to go from Irun (or possibly San Sebastian) on the morning of Tuesday 26 to arrive in Pinhal Novo some time on Wednesday afternoon. The 2 routes that are just by train are: 1) Irun to Madrid, then onto Merida or Badajoz to overnight before carrying on to Entrocamento, Lisbon and then...

    Renfe Reservations for Interrail

I'll be in Irun in Northern Spain first thing on Tuesday 26th heading towards Madrid I expect. Am I correct in my understanding that there is no way to book reservations for use with my Interrail Pass online? Instead, I can telephone Renfe 3 days before and they "reserve the reservations"...

    Two Together Railcard regulations

I know that (obviously) both people need to travel together in order to use the card to obtain 1/3 off. Does anyone know if both people need a ticket though? For example one person might have a pass that covers part of the journey - in which case can the second person receive the discount on the...

Fares advice re London via Stafford / Penkridge / Birmingham / London

Thanks for your input. Via Stafford is not essential - I thought of it as it's more of a loop that way and that it might be cost effective.

2 of us need to do a day trip this Friday of London to Penkridge via Stafford arriving mid morning then on to Birmingham for 4pm ish then a few hours later back to London. Any thoughts on the cheapest way please on a "close to quickest" route? Happy to buy a Two Together Card if need be...

    Hyperloop RIP

I don't disagree with what you're saying, Lucan, but isn't the document labelled as "EU Position Paper" just a document from Hyperloop trying to sell the idea to the EU rather than a paper showing the EU stance?
