    train sim recommendation query

To me it seems to be that you are still looking at Trainz. But if you are looking for more realistic cab views and sounds Open Bve is worth a look. All content is basically freeware in Open Bve and you can make what you like. So long as what you make does not infringe anyone. It's a...

    Open BVE Still Available?

Well that's a link above to the version of Open Bve I use. But I feel I should point out that there's a bit more to my site than there was two years ago! https://sites.google.com/a/bve4trains.com/bve4trains/ Also the Network West Midlands is route is again available and still being...

    OpenBVE license

I could, but I would not for that is against the principles of bve. Although you do have a point, Bve4Trains has just over 32,000 hits per year even if only half of them downloaded content and paid say two quid for each download I would have no need to have a job and do this full time. I...

    OpenBVE license

To put it simply you just can not take work by others and decide to sell it. Although you could make new work that uses the Open Bve program to run it that has a cost to it. This new work would have to do what the paid for commercial sims have to do, that's pay companies to use their...

    Class 56

    Class 56

Well I would not bother that often Phil! Indeed sometimes I post on my blog on Bve4Trains daily, but most of the time its around once a week. It needs to be something you can see in a screenshot for a post. You will also need a computer with a good spec to run it! It will have a new...

    New open BVE downloads

There's only one man who knows when the 310 will be released and that's Martin Corbett of BVETMD. I've been given a copy and it's excellent. Even at the moment as a WIP! Excellent was also all I could give Martin as feedback of the WIP, it's that good!

    Updated NWM Released

That's because you seem to have a copy of NWM that is not the version released just before xmas. Most likely you have downloaded it and not removed the old version beforehand. So you end up with a mix of both that does not work correctly. There's not a 60 route file to Kings Head in the...

Birmingham Cross city sounds for other routes?

Not really without adding the coding to the route file. There's only one location on NWM where you might hear them really and that's the sharp 30 mph curve just before Quarry Bank. Another way is to add them to the train, but that needs the sounds to be edited and the code in the train.dat...

    Updated NWM Released

That's a known issue with some of the routes via Salford and Frankley Jct. A simple way around it is to press the Page Down key to isolate the TPWS etc to pass the signal and press it again once you have to reset. It can also occur if you arrive at Frankley Jct a bit early...

AWS UkSpt.dll plugin doesn't work on some routes

Well the dmu plugin does have a problem when you run a dmu on a route for a loco. In that the brakes will not release. The way around that is to open and shut the doors. This effects all dmu's that use the UkSpt plugin. What you seem to be having may be a Linux problem. I use...

    Birmingham Xcity

Yes and they are basically totally new routes, although a lot of the same objects can be used. For me the main thing missing from Open Bve is passing train sounds, as the next release of NWM might just have a few more and it would be nice if you could hear them going past!

Can I still get these trains anywhere?

I must admit I am suprised! Are you able to run bve2? They do a good job of showing how bve has progressed in the last 8+ years or so. Although I actually have all of them on my computer. But there's a few in your list that were never made. But if you or anyone else can run bve2...

New Class 57's for Open Bve

What am I up to at the moment? Well what started off as a quickie, or updating my 58's has turned in to a bit of a rebuild. There will be far more new versions of the Class 58 released soon. New sounds, the odd new cabview and new consists.
