Are there any drivers on here that sign it? Now, rather than in the days of steam lolol  If there are, i'd very much like to receive a PM from you, as i'm looking for a favour :)

    Question about FGW HSTs

I was up the front of an HST (2+8) out of Reading the other week, and she made 125 for several miles before braking for Didcot. Acceleration to 100 was very swift, with the final 25mph taking a little longer...

    A train with a wheelflat?

I'd rather pee on it than touch it, i know that. Better a cloud of steam than a singed middle finger. --- old post above --- --- new post below --- Over-charging an air brake system will have exactly the opposite effect, i.e. to release the brake. Over-charging an air brake system is a...

any details on this freightliner working?

I was on this working last Saturday morning, the 6th of March. It went to NAW as 6Z20, loaded, and then went to Crewe Basford Hall as 6Z21. I'm not sure what the stone is being used for. Basford Hall as a destination suggests an engineering job, but the stone we haul out of NAW is too fine to...

Class 70 on the tail ?

No, i'm at Stoke Gifford, just behind Bristol Parkway. Wentloog, the Cardiff terminal, is owned and operated by FL Intermodal, and to the best of my knowledge there are no train crew based there. Those of us at Stoke Gifford all work for FL Heavy Haul. I live in Cardiff and support the...

The next five classes to be withdrawn

Thanks for clearing that up. I guess dependant on the noves required within the worksite / T3, and the direction the train would be exiting from, a 66 at either end would be needed, which may very well make the hauling to site of the HOBC by Class 92 a bit pointless. But the point you make...

    Stagecoach calls for vertical integration

Which the Tories have never done, of course!!

The next five classes to be withdrawn

Does there not need to be a current isolation when the HOBC is operating then? I would have thought that there would be, especially if the MFS wagons were to be topped-up on site....

    Different engine revs on 66/67

Turbo cool-down will also keep engine revs high for anything up to 20 minutes after a loco has come to a stand, especially if they have been working hard in the period immediately before coming to a stand.

Drivers! a minute of your time please.

Dave, the distance between the rear bulkhead and the windscreens is different in the two cabs on a class 66 - it is much less at the cooler group end (no.2 end) than it is at the clean air end (no.1 end). Drop me a pm and i may be able to help you out with some bits and pieces on that. re...

    what will become of 57005?

The one at Cardiff definitely hasn't got it's exhaust covered. Not sure about the others though.

Drivers! a minute of your time please.

Freight locomotives aren't fitted with DRA equipment. Or, to be more precise, there is no requirement to fit freight locomotives with DRA equipment.
