Have read recent posts about the new 10 week signalling school, has anyone any idea what the backlog is for getting new starters a place at school? My son was successful in his application and got the formal job offer in March and obviously is now waiting patiently for a place at school to get...

No worries and thanks for the update Pity HR don't keep applicants updated, presumably once a decision is made on who to interview an email/update would be generated to advise all unsuccessful applicants

Was that filled internally do you know? My son has an application in for this and still shows as "under consideration" after he passed the online tests

    Confused (signaller Job Application)

There is a pinned thread at the top specifically for signaller applications, a search of this will fully answer your question and give a lot of information In summary though your application is now under with the hiring manager to make a decision on who he/she wants to interview, your next...

I know someone that also applied for this and passed the tests but also not heard anything since, it can take weeks though but also worth noting that since the job was advertised it has been announced that Fiddlers Ferry power station is to close next year and this signal box only really exists...

    network rail pensions

Hi, just wondering what decision you made as to which pension to go for? I believe as a new starter you can opt for CARE or NRDC and then after 5 years may have the option to over to the favoured RPS, interesting to know which you sent for and the reason Thanks

    Network Rail Pensions any good?

Realise this is an old thread but came up when searched..........is the above the general census of opinion in that CARE is by far the better pension option than NRDC and then after the 5 years is the Railway Pension definitely better than either of these?

    Network rail application status

As stated above it just means you have attended and completed the interview Did the person that interviewed you advise when the successful applicant will be told and also how (phone call, email?) I think in the majority of cases the hiring manager would make a phone call to advise the person...

If you get chance and as others have suggested do try the practice tests a few times, preferably over 2 or 3 days. This 100% helps and gives you a good idea of the type of questions and how to get the correct answers, not sure if this is good advice or not but on the verbal reasoning i found it...

Wait time for formal job offer with Network Rail?

Wondering how long it would normally take to receive a formal offer pack from HR? Phone call from recruiting manager was over 4 weeks ago now but so far had nothing at all from HR, not even an email confirming the appointment. I have called them a couple of times and they have confirmed the...

    A career as a signaller

If any rules questions were/are asked at an internal interview then that is the key difference to an external interview, an external applicant would have no knowledge of rules & regs so pointless asking them questions about them. They would of course be expected to have the NTS and have...

Is the annual bonus uniform across all grades and roughly what sort of amount are you talking (last years maybe as an example)

    A career as a signaller

Just wondering what happens to anyone that gets offered a job from now then (plenty still listed), surely they can't be expected to wait until next year and not got a clue how anyone plays that with their present employee.........imagine telling them "i am leaving but it won't be for 8 months"...

As said previously i suppose 4% isn't a lot really for not knowing your shifts in advance, understand you only work at the 1 location but i would presume the not knowing your shifts is more worthy of a premium that not knowing your location (of course those who are effected by both should get more)
