Greater Manchester Rail Network, different boundaries?

I am erring towards the GMPTE version of the map too. (Partly also because it benefits me I suppose) The Northern version is colour coded clearly though with the lables. 'Greater Manchester PTE' on the purple areas which does not include Dinting, Glossop and Hadfield. But as you said, I...

Greater Manchester Rail Network, different boundaries?

Tried a search but have so far found nothing. I have recently realised that there are network maps showing different boundaries got the GMPTE area. The GMPTE website shows the following map http://www.gmpte.com/pdfmaps/rail_networkmap_mar2011.pdf On the Northern Rail website, the...

London Midland shirking legal responsibility for delivery of tickets

Well, with technology nowadays, there are so many alternatives to paper tickets sent through post. Ticket machine self print. Not available? Self print from email confirmation. No internet, no printer, bought tickets by phone? Text confirmation to mobile. No mobile? .... I...

London Midland shirking legal responsibility for delivery of tickets

To be honest, I don't see why there is the need for 'send by post' tickets. Wouldn't it be easier just to allow us to print off the ticket ourselves, saves cost, easier for customer too! There is also the option of collecting it at the station anyway.

London Midland - Great Easter Rail Sale!

I usually find that if you have more than one sets of ticket booked on a card, then you would need to enter the ref. However, sometimes I am also prompted to enter the ref when there is only one set of ticket booked on the card.

London Midland - Great Easter Rail Sale!

Yes, the Easter Promotion tickets are actually off-peak tickets. So the return is actually valid up to a month after the departure. :D I have booked my mine and will be collecting at the machine on the day of departure. :-D Off to London tomorrow for me!

London Midland - Great Easter Rail Sale!

When I meant I love the Class 350, its the 350/1 that I was talking about:D Of course the 350/2 will not be as comfy as a Pendo because of 5 row seating. Well, I just hope that the train I am getting on will be a 350/1!! haha. I don't know if its gonna be busy or not but I am looking...

London Midland - Great Easter Rail Sale!

WSMR does not run from Birmingham centre which is the problem. Factor in time to get to a station where WSMR runs from my place would make the total journey time more. Not to mention paying extra for that bit too. Normally, I would always book cheap advance ticket from VT for my Brum-Lon...

London Midland - Great Easter Rail Sale!

I find the Desiros better than Pendolinos. Partly due to the fact that its a brighter interior and airy feel due to bigger cross section WSMR does not run New street-Euston unfortunately. And definitely not at 6.6quid return hehe.

Here's something different from the Chinese

No need to run a train at 2000mph. I am pretty sure if you have a train that runs at the same speed as a plane, that would be a winner already:D Make it a 600mph HST hehe. I mean, same journey time but on a train? Oh yes, I'd take it.

Here's something different from the Chinese

Is your plan physically moving the whole island off to the coast near China? Then building a tunnel to it? hahahahaha :-P

Here's something different from the Chinese

Passenger rail maybe not. Freight yes! Europe to China freight is already possible. A fully loaded aircraft is actually not that bad in terms of energy usage. With further advancement in technology, we could see more efficient planes around.

London Midland - Great Easter Rail Sale!

And I just realised that the important things I need to do may not be possible afterall if the strike goes ahead. The people I am supposed to meet most probably won't be in :( Oh wells, lets see then

London Midland - Great Easter Rail Sale!

Yes I just checked and realised... :( Too bad I still have to go cos it is a somewhat important trip. I'll just have to bear the crush of people. At least the service I am using, New Street - Euston will still have a service. No service from my local to New Street I guess so I'll have to...

London Midland - Great Easter Rail Sale!

Did the Great Escape a while back ago. Good fun. :D Will take advantage of this as well for a trip to London next week! I am beginning to warm to London Midland haha. Luckily the Desiros are comfy which makes the longer journey time acceptable.

    IEP postponed

Tilting lets a train go faster (enhanced speed) around a curve at the same passenger comfort level of a normal train going around the same curve at normal speed. If that makes sense:D They only go faster around curves with the effect of less deceleration before a curve and reaching line speed...

Are DOO trains a good idea?

It wouldn't be long before somebody (signaller maybe..) to realise that something is wrong with a train stopped dead, blocking up all traffic behind. Call up, no answer.... you get the drift. I doubt passengers would need to 'fend' for themselves being stuck in a train for a few hours...
