Had to break through unmanned barriers at Burgess hill tonight

But that's the point, they normally are. The member of staff is normally at the main(normally busiest) set of barriers, with a video link to the other barriers. So if they did your suggestion all that would happen is that a different set of barriers would be unstaffed.

Had to break through unmanned barriers at Burgess hill tonight

The member of staff is generally at the main set of barriers of course, from where they can communicate with the other sets of barriers. So I'm not quite sure what this suggestion is rooted in.

Had to break through unmanned barriers at Burgess hill tonight

Bit of a frustration of mine is when these unmanned gates are set to reject Railcards. If there aren't staff present, then I think the gates should really be set to open with any possible valid ticket. As a previous poster has mentioned. The help point shown isn't one that goes through to...

Class 165 on service to Great Malvern

With the ex Taunton's I find it's the waiting times at filton and patchway, rather than the additional stops at patchway and Severn tunnel themselves that seem to cause the crawl. Guessing it's down to timings to avoid conflicting with movements via parkway, but I'm sure there are others who'd...

Class 165 on service to Great Malvern

Just a couple of things to clarify . The Pompey to Cardiff isn't the only service between temple meads and Cardiff. There are also hourly services from the west country, which often do use the 5 car iets that you suggest the route needs. As for the interiors, it's a mix of refurbished and...

    Issuing Fine Underhand Tactics

If the sequence of events is as described, then make sure a complaint is submitted aswell as following the appeal process.

    Can Revenue override a Guard

I'm normally of the view that if someone takes the time to ask me then I'll say yes. Having said that, the guard doesn't need any 'justification ' to say no in that situation . I'm guessing the bit about revenue being onboard was a white lie. Although it may be that revenue were onboard and...

Train driver and guard attacked at Moss Side station near Lytham

Not a nice thing to experience while doing your job. Certainly doesn't sounds as if there's much of 'another side to the story' that one poster seems to want to believe. Although the assailant needs to watch out aswell I'd suggest. A t-key could do a lot of damage to an exposed nutsack if he...

No working toilet on the train.

Yeah. A strong stomach can sometimes be needed. Although luckily on the services I work, random episodes of backflushing don't seem to be an issue. *Ridiculous thing for me to say really, can almost guarantee I will now encounter it within the near future.

No working toilet on the train.

Always worth asking the guard if they can unlock a toilet/if any of the toilets are usable . I've worked trains with all toilets locked out, that on investigation have been able to be reopened. Sometimes a toilet can be locked out early in the day for a small reason(small leak, broken seat...

    Preacher on SWR

Totally agree. Went for a wander around Southwark cathedral the other week. As it happened there was actually a service going on at the time, one of the parishioners had been posted by the entrance to make sure visitors still knew that they were welcome to look around despite the service...

    Staff Vaping

Now that is wrong. Really poor form, and I'd hope someone has a word with them. As for the problems certain people have with staff daring to vape outside the station. Not even sure where to start.... Apart from to say that this forum absolutely amazes me sometimes. Obviously if they're...

Accused of reusing a open return ticket

If you're sure it wasn't used, then write in and ask for a refund. Got to be honest, can't really work out how this happened. If someone shows me a ticket I don't care what folder it's in on their phone, it's the message I get from my phone after scanning it that should inform my decision.

    Preacher on SWR

I'd love to know the 'conversion rate' of these preachers. Has anyone ever listened to their ramblings and thought 'i need to get myself to church, this blokes talking sense' :D

'Bumping' - is it becoming a serious problem?

Good idea ! 1709032026 A perfectly reasonable moral view.

'Bumping' - is it becoming a serious problem?

Hence my suggestion for additional officers, fully funded from rail budgets 1709031618 Couldn't agree more !

'Bumping' - is it becoming a serious problem?

Seems to be a big problem everywhere now, but endemic at the London stations I pass through. I'd love to see more btp recruited and funded from railway budgets, with the catch that they have to spend at least half of their time rostered helping rpi's . About time the serial evaders and...

Should there be a total ban on autofill for Railcards on online ticket sales

Personally that's my approach, jobcentre card always checked as my personal rate of fraudulent/genuine is probably around a ridiculous rate of 6/1. 16/17 is also another one where people tend to give themselves away easily by looking a good few years older
