    Work Experience

I did work experience twice with SOuth West Trains as was. Realistically you cannot do anything other than platform customer services because of the psycometrics and medical and training requirements of most roles.

EMR - Trainee Depot Drivers, Nottingham & Derby (12/11/2021)

Don't be too disheartened, there were just over 1000 applications that were all hand scored with the top-scoring going through. Simple things such as not fully answering the statements or living more than 45 mins away would have resulted in not being shortlisted.

EMR - Trainee Depot Drivers, Nottingham & Derby (12/11/2021)

Not really I am afraid, now you play the waiting game. This process really will test your patience as things will seem to not progress, then stop altogether, then get going again. If you are invited to assessments they will send all the practice material that you need to prepare, once that...

    Remaining EMR HST Diagrams

I wouldn't rely on RTT as we are running Meridians in "HST paths" and they will show on RTT as 110 mph HST when they aren't

Train Driver cabs and Tall People

As others have said depends on what company and traction you sign. I am 6ft5 and have driven 37s (far too small for DSD pedal), and 222s (lovely size with plenty of room) more modern trains are far better adjustable but like most things in life as a tall person you adapt (have you ever had a...

Trainee Driver - Starting a YouTube Channel

I kept a blog but if I shared anything even remotely operational or to do with the TOC they got fed up so I stopped updating it. Most social media policies don't let you do anything, my current TOCs one is iron clad, and if you say anything that they don't like and someone can work out you work...

CDMs travel the network with a tablet that tells them which drivers are due which assessments and what...

    Conditional Offer

if it helps, I was offered a job during the first lockdown. Joined and then was paid to sit at home for months why they decided about how training was going to progress. I think you will be ok. The worse option would be to not give notice in your previous role. I have had to do this before and...

When I joined I didn't tick the box and yes, the sec badgered me for a bit about it but accepted that I didn't want to do. Not that I am against politics but I want all my sub to go to ASLEF and call me selfish but I want as much going to looking after me and the stuff that directly affects me...
