    Signalling Information Help

All route indications can be found in yellow perils, but that involves a lot of work collating the data. Some companies do have route indications on their maps.

Is train driving considered a skilled or semi skilled profession?

I would place myself in the skilled camp actually. If you have a look online at some definitions then it could be either though as it is open to interpretation. https://work.chron.com/difference-between-skilled-semi-skilled-22806.html Learning to drive trains takes a lot longer than 6 months...

    LED signals, black blanking plates

They are actually really useful. They help reduce read throughs by providing a solid black strip and they help with general signal sighting issues. The signals are the bright LED ones in the area but that doesn't mean a lot, because the sun is brighter so every little helps. Also the signals...

I remember a steady blue signal(?) at Westerfield from about 2008ish. What could it have been?

I had forgotten about RETB.. I have seen one of those on the WHL. My excuse is we don't do RETB on my patch .

I remember a steady blue signal(?) at Westerfield from about 2008ish. What could it have been?

Could it have been an isolation limit marker? Wouldn't have been on a normal sigal head though, usually in the 4 foot. I can't recall any other blue lights/signals I have seen.

    Avanti Reduced Speeds 24/01 - 25/01

With 390s the instruction is during falling snow or snow disturbed by the passage of trains 100mph max speed or 10 mph below PS whichever is lower and the snow brake to be operated every 3-5 minutes. The snow brake provides 1 bar of brake pressure for 15 seconds once pressed. If the snow brake...

    Avanti Reduced Speeds 24/01 - 25/01

Often the ice and snow on the bogies ends up with bits ballast frozen into it. When two trains pass together this can result in pieces of ballast hitting the windscreen at near 250mph collision speed.

    Avanti Reduced Speeds 24/01 - 25/01

As a result of the weather conditions we are seeing Avanti have been running services at a maximum speed of 100mph all day today. This is set to continue until the end of service Monday. I believe this is as a result of the ice build-up on the bogies leading to a large number of broken...

Face coverings compulsory on public transport in England from 15 June

I had someone removed 2 weeks ago for not following 2 meters distance and generally being unpleasant to talk to so why would this be any different? Its my own safety at risk as well as the safety of others around me.

Face coverings compulsory on public transport in England from 15 June

But the person may have been asked to leave by an employee due to the fact that they are not wearing a face covering, which could be a TOC specific policy. They then have been refused service which the TOC is allowed to do, so long as that in itself is not unlawful, and therefore have no reason...

Face coverings compulsory on public transport in England from 15 June

If someone is politely asked why they are not wearing a face covering and the reply is due to an exemption then I am sure they will not face any issues. If the reply is because they don't want to then the TOC employee can ask said person to vacate the station until such a time that they are...

    Medical Tests

And obviously if anyone has been 'on the dust' then they will in all probability fail the test and rightfully so. I personally wouldn't feel safe working with colleagues who choose to take drugs in their free time, hence why I support our D&A policies so strongly.
