    Heysham Harbour Branch Signalling, 1970?

There was a third option: One main and one subsidiary semaphore arm on a single post with a theatre type route indicator, and a disc signal for the route to the sidings.

Signal upgrade set to modernise Cornwall’s railway

The generic term is VSCS: VDU-based signalling control systems.

Signal upgrade set to modernise Cornwall’s railway

Although that's a MCS workstation, not an IECC.

    Running round at Cowes

Gravity shunting was used to run round trains at Killin.

    This is a scam, right?

That's probably deliberate. Scammers like these are looking for contact details of people they can target later in other scam attempts, or sell their details to other scammers. Scammers don't like to waste their time talking to people who are smart enough spot a scam a mile off, so they insert...

    This is a scam, right?

I saw one on Facebook for a ScotRail smartcard the other day that listed some of the cities in Scotland you can travel to, including Kelso (!) and Standrigg (????). These scam ads do of course breach Facebook's advertising standards, even though they'll always tell you that they don't after you...

Differences between TPWS, ATP and ETCS

Protection was enhanced by fitting extra TPWS loops on the track. Why would the on-train equipment need an upgrade?

It's proposed for reinstatement when the line is resignalled in the next few years in preparation for electrification.

    Tyndrum (Upper and Lower)

Are those figures reliable, or just the result of ticket sales to or from "Tyndrum stations" being apportioned equally to the two stations?

What is this track object and associated markings?

The painted markings are there to tell tamper operators not to tamp on either side of the greaser ("G/POT" for grease pot).

    Tyndrum (Upper and Lower)

Tyndrum is just outside the catchment area for Oban High School, as well as being in a different council area.

    Tyndrum (Upper and Lower)

It's not a consequence of the junction at Crianlarich; Tyndrum has two stations (and Crianlarich used to have two) because the Callander and Oban Railway and the West Highland Railway both constructed separate lines through Strath Fillan, each with their own separate stations. If Upper Tyndrum...

    Single-track station on double-track railway?

Ware (post #10) is exactly what the OP asked for. A double track that reduces to single at the station, then goes back to double. No other complications such as junctions nearby or other lines running past the station.

Differences between TPWS, ATP and ETCS

OSS and TSS arming loops have different frequencies because they initiate different processes on board the train. The onboard timer that determines whether the train is overspeeding at an OSS is only started by an OSS arming loop. The conditions that cause an intervention at a TSS are: arming...

Government announces additional funding for Yorkshire and the Humber

Question about level crossing barrier timings

That doesn't ring true. Huncoat is an MCB-OD level crossing, so the protecting signal (PN401) is interlocked and won't clear unless the barriers are down and the crossing is proved clear (the control table confirms this). The *preceding signal (PN403) is an automatic signal.

Question about level crossing barrier timings

Yes, it's allowed at AHBC crossings. The barriers will descend automatically when a train approaches. (Image shows a car on Shepreth level crossing and a green railway signal)
