Had to break through unmanned barriers at Burgess hill tonight

This happened to me once at a tube station and my bag was stuck in the barriers for a good few minutes while I tried to free it with no help from staff.

E-Tickets on dead phones - a possible solution?

How come they made it so that the 26-30 Railcard is only available on a mobile device? That implies that they are looking to make everything digital-only eventually.

E-Tickets on dead phones - a possible solution?

Probably not practical given the range of ticket retailers, but the ideal solution would be to have a way for the ticket inspector to look up your ticket on a central database. Just like if you go to a concert or board a plane and you lose your ticket/boarding pass. Providing a charger is the...

Proof of Travel - LNER Barcode Tickets

An alternative option would be to make a Subject Access Request to LNER or Network Rail to see if they have any CCTV footage of them.

Is there any point in buying a London International (CIV) ticket?

From reading this forum over the years, it appears that the CIV ticket doesn't technically give you any protection when your train is delayed and you miss your connection. Is there any reason why you would buy one? I thought the international ticket wouldn't have peak restrictions but it appears...

Delay Repay rejected - fake strike

If they haven't resolved the complaint within 40 working days, you can complain to the Rail Ombudsman without a deadlock letter.

How to tell which services are mandatory on an Advance ticket before booking?

Does this mean I won't be able to do an intercity journey from/to Cambridge if the Great Northern portion is in the peak?

How to tell which services are mandatory on an Advance ticket before booking?

That explains the issue then. I share the frustration of the person in that thread, having the Great Northern services unreserved was very useful to allow you to get an earlier train than the minimum connection time would allow.

How to tell which services are mandatory on an Advance ticket before booking?

How come the GTR services are reservable when there are no Advance tickets available for them? They didn’t used to be reservable.

How to tell which services are mandatory on an Advance ticket before booking?

I am looking at this Advance ticket from Oxford to Cambridge on 17 September. It is telling me to travel via Stansted Airport and get a bus from there. I'd rather travel via Royston and get the replacement bus there instead. Is that allowed on this ticket? Will the journey from London to...

How is the Share of saving determined?

    Oh that seems obvious now!

How is the Share of saving determined?

I’m looking for a journey using the forum’s ticketing site. Is there any information on how the fee is calculated? It says that the maximum charged is 15% but I’m being shown a charge of 18% for this journey.

SWR Advance ticket collection - can I change collection point?

Perhaps it would be better if retailers said that you can collect your ticket from your starting station (if available) or any other station on this list. Then people wouldn't need to ask if their plans changed and they needed to collect from somewhere else.

    Free refunds for flexible tickets?

I know GTR used to offer free refunds on flexible tickets if you didn't collect them. But I can't find any reference to this any more. Do they still do it? If not, are there any retailers which do?

Is it true split ticketing means you risk losing delay repay for the whole journey?

If you have multiple tickets for your journey then that counts as one journey for delay repay purposes. Most Delay Repay forms only handle single tickets because that's what the vast majority of people use. I'd suggest taking a photo of all your tickets at once, or combining your tickets into...

Eurostar to Amsterdam - Stopping Short at Rotterdam

I doubt the NS staff at Rotterdam would inspect your ticket too closely. I was let out at Amsterdam CS with a Eurostar ticket just to Rotterdam. It didn't work on the barrier but the staff member on the gate waved us through.

Travelling late the day before a strike day

On 2 February this year, trains from King’s Cross to Cambridge were cancelled in the late evening, even though the strike was the next day.

Travelling late the day before a strike day

I'm going to be travelling back on the Eurostar from Rotterdam on Wednesday 15th March arriving at 21.57. I need to get back to Cambridge and am planning on getting the 22.39 from King's Cross. I'm assuming this train will be cancelled (it was last strike day) and I'll have to book a hotel. Is...
