    New National Rail website

cough British Airways cough But it does interact with an ancient core, Darwin. Built in the early to mid 2000's which itself consumes data from British Rail built systems. https://wiki.openraildata.com/index.php/TRUST_vs_Darwin

    Storm Gerrit related disruptions-27/12/23

Sat on the 1130 LNER from London Kings Cross to Edinburgh. What a journey. Was meant to go from Cleethorpes to Warrington Central then change to Bank Quay then go up with Avanti to Glasgow but saw news that the WCML was having problems so decided to go the East Coast instead from Doncaster...

LNER were seriously proposing airline style check-in for rail travel?!

"Thanks for checking in to this LNER Azuma, would you fancy us to deliver a bacon roll to your seat for only £3?"

M&S in waverley station - does it sell alchohol

Time they remove the ban on ScotRail. Makes no sense and was a 'temporary' COVID measure. You can have a beer on LNER, XC, TPE, Avanti, Caledonian Sleeper, LUMO no problems in the same country but ScotRail, uh huh.

    Transpennine Express Onboard Survey

Odd occurrence that happened on the 0906 from Glasgow Central to Manchester Airport today. Train guard gave notice of a survey taking place on board. Bunch of men with light blue high vis vests came through the carriage asking whether we were travelling for work/leisure and whether we had a...

ScotRail to hire 42 Revenue Protection Inspectors

I always find myself laughing at people in the queues. Either buy a ticket from the TVM or use the app, it’s not hard. Unless everyone is queueing to buy a ticket from Cardonald and I’m not in on it.

ScotRail to hire 42 Revenue Protection Inspectors

ScotRail seem pretty switched on with ticket checks recently. Really noticed it as a passenger. Often people checking tickets at Paisley Gilmour St before boarding at peak hours, usually someone checking tickets at the lift on Platforms 13/14/15 at Glasgow Central (way to bypass the barriers)...

    New National Rail website

I'd argue a beta site is better than the archaic mess that was the previous site. Shame it does still seem to re-use the old design in certain areas - e.g. planner results.

Ayr Station Hotel Fire 28/05/2023 and now on fire again 25/09/2023

It's not an uncommon occurrence for buildings to 'randomly' burn down in the west of Scotland. 1685292948 https://www.facebook.com/ayrshiredailynews/posts/pfbid0CtvtLaTJRv6yVfW7dzwCmVBdruVfGCG4wpmYy8a5nXt3QWwYD78djmr1kJr3E1v4l Apologies for Facebook link but apparently under control now...

    New National Rail website

Most public-sector (GOV.UK) sites launch as 'beta' - it's fairly common as they're releasing to the public but still doing user research & discovery. https://www.gov.uk/service-manual/agile-delivery/how-the-beta-phase-works 1685292672 Seeing lots of complaints about the new site here but it's a...

A shame. The station already looks like a construction site, now it'll look even worse. https://twitter.com/NetworkRailSCOT/status/1662851642599809025 https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/ayrshire/station-hotel-ayr-fire-appliances-30098041
