Lothian Group discussion (Lothian City, Lothian Country Bus and East Coast Buses)

So it would appear that Central has held onto 3 runs (previously 6) on the 44 Mon-Fri. The 25 is back to being fully Longstone operated- previously 4 runs from Marine Mon-Fri.

It was 6 M-F and 3 on a Saturday so will be interesting to see where they go, especially as there are now more at Central. They are on service 9 today but tomorrow will give us a better idea.

668-671 appear to now be at Central. Looks like service 44 has gone fully back to Longstone as well - assuming 631,637 and 638 are now based at Longstone.

This is a link to a story in March 2010 reporting the planned return to the traditional livery. https://www.scotsman.com/news/madder-and-white-pink-buses-return-classic-livery-2442739

Looks like 670 and 671 are now back at Longstone as well. 671 out on service 3 from what I can see.

I assume 690-698 are on special operations which is why some Longstone buses have transferred to Central.

Don't know if it's just a problem with tracking (or a bigger issue such as driver shortage) but at the moment only 9 buses are showing as out in service on the 44 and only 13 on the 3. Usually on a Saturday these are 14 and 18 respectively.

XLB'S off the 31 and back on the 47 today.

I noticed that the 31 is being operated almost fully by XLB'S today (none are on the 47).

One evening journey each from Marine and Central. 401 from Marine and 457 from Central today.

Presumably the reason for this is to cover the 6 buses that Central now run on Service 44. 1658821992 Absolutely there are exceptions but broadly speaking Longstone have swapped the buses that they use on services 25 and 33 when compared to last week.

Excellent summary. The only thing off the top of my head is one evening X44 is run by Marine and the split of the 25 is about 3-4 buses from Marine Monday-Friday with all others across the week from Longstone.

The 25 and 33 have swapped back again today so the 25 is mainly E400s again. I did wonder what would happen with the 44 as it is a split depot operation now but it remains all E400s from Longstone and Central.

I'm surprised Central are able to take on extra capacity. Unless something is moving in the other direction? Do we know if these timetable changes are considered as temporary?

The 26 has been run fully from Marine as far as I can remember - that's going back to the 1980's. Pre Covid there was a morning journey run from Central but that was just a return of the previous journey which had been operating as the N26. It may still happen for all I know.

With regards the 44 there are several short journeys to Elm Row now listed so does this mean Central will be operating some again?

Yes I am a regular user of the 26. There is the odd appearance of 951-960 and 401-425 as well but it generally is 466-495 that make up the majority of what is on. I noticed routes will often do that. The 3 and 44 will regularly have one of 551-570 on along with the rest of the normal 601-630...

I've not been aware of that. Currently all Zoo buses with the exception of 644 on the 26.
