Door conversion from one to two doors

Out of interest I googled the phrase "converted to dual-door". An example I found is several former Reading Buses Optare Excels which were exported to New Zealand and had a door added there.

Why don't buses carry makers badges?

Just last week, Ray Stenning (prolific designer of liveries etc) tweeted on X that complaining that the new Volvo 8900 Electric bus has a big Volvo "grille slash" on its front, leaving little room for the operator's logo:

    Van Hool job losses

This article has a bit more information and links to further articles in the Belgian press: https://www.electrive.com/2024/03/12/van-hool-announces-exit-from-electric-bus-business-and-faces-unclear-future/

They're back again now – bug on the bustimes.org side Yes, Go South West's timetable data on BODS (the Bus Open Data Service) has data for the 14 April onwards but they've accidentally removed the current data. I've reported it to them now so hopefully they'll fix it. It can vanish if it's...

    BusTimes.Org

The list of departures at a stop (this thing ) is currently a bit dumber than you might expect – in Bristol it just shows the timetabled time, and it doesn't at all take into account whether the bus is running late (or early). So if the bus in the post above was even a few seconds late, and the...

As of recently, you can choose the "Bright" or "Outdoors" map styles, which do show the names of railway stations (from OpenStreetMap) (screenshot shows the "Bright" style selected with Berney Arms railway station marked on the map

    73 registration buses and coaches

The dealer is Pelican, Castleford but interestingly (?), from looking at Bus Lists on the Web, most of their buses and coaches are registered at the customer's local DVLA office rather than in Leeds – Ember, McGill's (S_), Newport, Cardiff Bus (C_), Go North East (NL), but not Nottingham City...

Last time there was a strike like Go North East?

The 2021 Go North West strike went on long enough to get its own detailed Wikipedia article:

Nov 5: no live tracking for Stagecoach Scotland

Stagecoach have acknowledged the issue in a tweet on X: Based on previous times it's happened, it would probably have been fixed quite quickly if it wasn't the weekend.

    Lichfield City Coaches

According to FreeCarCheck, the registration plate "VUI 222" is now on an ex-Ipswich Buses Optare Versa (formerly YK08 EPF). But the ticket machine tracking as VUI_222 might be in a different vehicle, I don't know

    First Leicester

I count 68 electric single deckers on the bustimes.org list, leaving a further 18 buses still to come (which were funded more recently), and according to this document (Zebra Extension Redacted Bid (January 2023) [pdf - 5.01 Mb]) the remaining 18 will be double deckers:

    National Express Coaches Discussion

The 025 (Worthing - Brighton - Gatwick - London) has been registered as a bus service (PD0000738/351) effective from 20 October I wonder what are the reasons for and implications of this?

Trent Barton: what happened to ‘the really good bus company’?

I wonder if they'll ever reconsider their quirky policy of only using single deckers (I'm not sure how many of their routes have low bridges). I understand that it was based on customer research showing a preference for being able to see the driver, and double deckers cost more to buy and run...

    73 registration buses and coaches

I think we're talking at cross purposes: Delaine have an Enviro400 City on order; the three new Go South Coast buses (HJ73 JJV/X/Z) are Enviro400 MMCs

    Google Maps train data

Unless they’ve changed recently, Google and Apple Maps both rely on Ito World (https://www.itoworld.com/ito-transit-data/) to get GB public transport data from various sources, combine it and convert it into the format they expect. They say their processes “enhance” the quality of the data etc...

McGill's Scotland East (Midland Bluebird and Eastern Scottish)

I like the branding, but it's slightly unfortunate that CitySwift is already the name of some "artificial intelligence powered" bus scheduling software used by a number of UK bus companies (not McGill's). It's unlikely to cause a trademark problem, but it's not great for search engine...

But there's also an OperatorRef field in that tracking data, which distinguishes between Bluestar and Morebus (attachment shows a bit of the Go South Coast SIRI-VM (vehicle monitoring) feed, with the OperatorRef lines highlighted)
