West Midlands Trains recruiting for Trainee Train Drivers!!

Friend has been invited to sit online assessment. I wasn't required to do one myself. Anyone have an idea what that consists of.? Is it similar to situational judgement test?

West Midlands Trains recruiting for Trainee Train Drivers!!

This is most definitely one of your two lives and should be taken super seriously. Aswest midland grade at the enhanced standard, even if you have successfully completed trainee driver assessment, you may have to sit some or all of the parts to bring your scores up to the required standard. If...

West Midlands Trains recruiting for Trainee Train Drivers!!

Almost all trainee driver vacancies do state that they may close the recruitment drive early if they receive sufficient numbers of suitable applicants. It's good practice to make time within a day or two of role being posted, to sit down for a couple of hours uninterrupted and do it.

Southern Trainee Train Driver (Metro Depots Only)

I was told that there a bunch of Thameslink trainees being brought in as they're massively oversubscribed also. There's a shortage of available instructors, some instructor's have 3 trainees out with them. I spoke with a Thameslink trainee who even though he'd passed the rules course he was...

Southern Trainee Train Driver (Metro Depots Only)

I've spoken to people at GTR and they are massively oversubscribed with qualified drivers...with the new timetable there is going to be less work spread around more drivers....the coastal applicants have now been told there will be a potential wait of between 18 months and 3 years for next...

Have I been gypped by the TOC/OPC?

People have had job offers rescinded due to comments they've made on here so I'd be extremely careful with what you say, as it could hurt any current or future applications. But if you are just trying to get or share helpful advice? No harm there

    TFL age and other discrimination?

I had a driver manager interview for a Toc and was very pleased to hear that to ensure the fairness of the recruitment process the names ages and genders of applicants are removed from the files and all applications are judged on experience and test scores only. It pretty much boils down to, if...

    Route to trainee driver?

In my MMI I used that exact example when they asked for time I've had to concentrate for a long period of time, driving home after Christmas. And it was perfectly acceptable l discussed issues I'd faced, techniques I'd used to maintain focus. Etc. Ticked all the boxes...when in doubt just go...

    Route to trainee driver?

Lot of good advice here. It's true the TOCs have so many applicants for every vacancy they post, they only want the best. However, experience isn't enough you still have to have an excellent application that demonstrates all the attributes of a train driver. There are obvious careers they find...

Southern Trainee Train Driver (Metro Depots Only)

I passed all tests to enhanced standard at one TOC only to have to resit one of the tests to Bring that score up with another Toc. Ha ha. It's ridiculous..just have one standard and make it high so all companies know they're getting the highest performing candidates. Sigh

Southern Trainee Train Driver (Metro Depots Only)

That's correct, the dfft is not part of the national assessment It's a TOC specific test. The TOCs that have it GTR, CROSSRAIL, WEST MIDLANDS, ARRIVA RAIL LONDON.

    TEA-Occ

I passed Tea-occ test with a Toc which I thought was an enhanced standard but have been told I need to retake for West Midlands as it's not high enough. If I am unsuccessful will that count as one of my 2 fails as I passed at both the TOC and the national standard?

    Assessment Query

Trainee driver assessment. I'd rather not say the TOC eyes and ears everywhere. Ha ha. I was told I'd be offered place on the course they're running and have now been told they may not be running the course. So was just curious if my driver assessment pass will help another application or have...
