    ptac + priv on oyster

Yes, but it’s not permitted for those who hold the Priv and PTAC combination!

    ptac + priv on oyster

Can the powers that be not create a version of the All Rail Priv that doesn’t have the extra privileges, purely the PAYG concessions?

CrossCountry Trains advert banned over ‘insufficient’ free food and drink claims…

This really isn’t anything new. The railway’s thing is “complementary means it’s not included as part of your ticket price, so if we don’t provide it, you have no recourse”. If they have the staff to do it, you might get a partial, or full catering service but it’s very much on a best endeavour...

    Go Coach acquired by Hulley's

That would be an extremely well paying council contract if so. I’ve seen those buses around and suffice to say the legal capacity of the deckers does appear to be well used so if there are 90 or so children paying £7.50 each for a return trip then that’s a viable commercial service!

Motorway Driving - too many idiots

As a bus driver who’s limited to 62mph, one thing a small but noticeable number of car drivers do is sit beside or just behind the bus in the middle lane for miles on end. It stops me from being able to use the middle lane for going around slower moving traffic. And when I slow down to encourage...

Conductor wouldn't sell me a railcard reduced fare onboard even though the ticket machine has been "vandalised"

At the station I work at, the machine would be taken out of service until it has been properly cleaned. It’s not a universal view across the railway that a customer should have to put their hands in muck to buy a ticket, especially when there are guards who proactively do tickets on the train...

Conductor wouldn't sell me a railcard reduced fare onboard even though the ticket machine has been "vandalised"

Fully agree with this. Why penalise a passenger who has proactively sought to buy a ticket with a very valid reason for not using the machine?

Tfl Staff Pass misuse on GA

We should be realistic to help the OP understand what’s happening. I’ve had a few TfL staff/nominee passes. TfL send these passes to staff through the post and with them, for at least the last 11 years, comes a concise letter listing the National Rail routes it can be used on the front page...

Tfl Staff Pass misuse on GA

The pass is posted to the member of staff’s address. With it comes a letter that concisely sets out which National Rail routes it can be used on. Liverpool Street to Stratford is on there but it is not intimated anywhere official that it can be used east of Stratford on GA services. 1713304496...

LU staff vote to strike following dismissal of employee for issuing a refund without a customer present

The question is, how did this get flagged? There is no audit trail for staff if the public refund option is used which would suggest they were either being watched specifically or someone has investigated, maybe by use of cameras and obtained proof after it wasn’t correctly accounted for...

LU staff vote to strike following dismissal of employee for issuing a refund without a customer present

This is the thing. In cases where people are dismissed for seemingly trivial things, there’s often a backstory from the management’s side. To be fair pocketing money isn’t normal behaviour, if any customers round here leave money for any reason it goes straight in the till or safe and is booked...

Should I do my PCV by joining a bus company or paying privately?

I paid a school to do my PCV training back in 2011. All in all it cost me about £2000, including all driving and CPC tests and medical. The pros were I got it all done in a couple of weeks and I was free to go and work, there’s honestly no bother finding work once qualified. The money was made...

Out of date railcards: what should the policy be, and what measures could be taken to avoid problems in future?

I think if checking the date on a railcard once in a while is deemed too much responsibility then it's not a suitable product to use on a personal level. Then that's one less way to come unstuck for travelling on an invalid ticket. I've always had one discount card or another and if one is out...

I don’t think so. Depending on what it is you want to discuss with them there are channels of making contact.

Fare advice for bristol to london commute

That would depend on the situation at home though, some people need to be home even if it’s only for 8 hours.

I had my nominee pass confiscated because I forgot my photocard

The loss wasn't zero. The whole point of the photocard is to provide evidence that the passenger is entitled to use the pass. Without it, TfL then has to go through the rigmarole of verifying it which does cost money. TfL provide a two window ticket wallet along with the photocard and pass...

New North East bus operator, ‘Northstar’

    Wales looks at bus franchising

It would be a shame if that happened. I'm still interested in registering my own local bus route, perhaps in the summer only to start with. The idea isn't to compete or be abstractive, but to create links that don't already exist and bring some communities closer to a town centre. This week...

Why don't buses carry makers badges?

I wanted to add some Citaro badges to my fleet for completeness. Evobus wanted £58 each plus VAT, which seemed a poor value proposition for advertising their brand, so quite content to leave the buses without them.
