    British Rail Class 153 Cost

https://www.shedno2.co.uk/products/london-underground-1938-stock-ex-isle-of-wight Shed no.2 are selling this 483 car for £8000 - amusingly you can pay with Apple Pay. I’m not sure if this is a representative price for other scrap value stock.

[Trivia] Smallest communities served by named express trains in UK (and Ireland if you like)?

I had a very similar thought about the Hebridean and the Lewisman but I have no idea where they stopped on the way to Kyle. Strathcarron seems a likely stop, just serving the hotel and pub.

[Trivia] Smallest communities served by named express trains in UK (and Ireland if you like)?

The Waverley calling at Newcastleton could be in contention for q1a. I’d also suggest one of the coastal villages on the fife coast expresses route but not sure they would be smaller than Newcastleton.

Are there ANY Heritage Railway extensions being actively pursued?

The strathspey railway were still pursuing their extension to Grantown on Spey last time I was up there pre covid, although, I can’t see any update post 2020 on their website.

Is the Class 334 due for refurbishment?

I hadn’t realised 334s were part of this, I thought it was just the remaining br electrics - 318/20. They still seem new-ish to me.

    East Kilbride/Barrhead electrification updates

The justification is correct, as under Scottish planning legislation only neighbours within a 20m radius of a proposal’s red line boundary are notified. In this case no neighbours fall within this notional 20m bubble.

I’m from Glasgow and I know people who do. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

What is the best unofficial name for a railway line?

I suppose I remember it was used more when I was a small child in the late 80s when the orange trains were still relatively new and and the film/book also more culturally relevant

Trivia: Stations still known by old names

Stranraer (harbour) - Im pretty sure the last time I got a train there the ticket actually said Stranraer Harbour as the destination on it. That was way back in 2009 before the ferry left.

    Trivia: Stations with non-geographical names

Edinburgh Gateway - although technically serving Edinburgh, isn’t a place or a Gateway.

Trivia: Stations where passengers headed for a completely different destination end up on a regular basis

Although not disastrous when visiting us in Glasgow my in-laws have mistakenly got trains to Pollokshaws east, Pollokshaws west, Pollokshields east and Pollokshields west.

Sorry if this has already been discussed but what stock will be used. Is the option for a further 10 cl 385s being exercised? Or just shuffled diagrams with existing stock?
