Glasgow Queen Street refurbishment and remodelling

Thanks for the pics @scotraildriver Is it just me or does the internal finish at the entrance/stairs/ramp in that picture look absolutely appalling? Apologies if it's unfinished and work is still be done (I hope so!)

    Scotrail Class 385 Discussion

That's a full week now with no announcements. The display isn't active either - only tells the time and the car number, no info about next stop or final destination.

    Scotrail Class 385 Discussion

Anyone else noticed that there have been no audio announcements on the Edinburgh - Glasgow mainline services for at least a week now? It's either the conductor making the announcements manually, or more often than not, nothing at all. What's going on?

LNER - too many service disruptions?

I was on the service which got held just behind the suicide. It was the same service that also had a set change earlier in the day at Doncaster due in part to a points failure. My journey was 4hrs 22mins delayed all in, the suicide accounted for a solid 3hrs of that. Left London at 12noon...

Would agree with Stopper - some may not bother walking the distance but these services are full at peak, it's literally just a case of which cars have more people standing in them, rather than finding cars with available seats. Scrap first class and that might solve a few of these problems :)

Ohh man yes I hear you there! Often blowing an absolutely freezing gale down there! Anything to minimise that would be massively welcomed.

    Station Usage 2018/19

Less than 10 years ago Glasgow Central was above Birmingham New Street in ridership (albeit by a small amount). Now New Street is sitting 5th with something like 15 million more entries and exits than Glasgow Central has (this despite GC ridership increasing by around 10m in the last decade!)...

There's no vocal announcement, only text on the display.

Anyone else noticed when heading to Glasgow on a 385, the passenger display will often say "The next station is Cowlairs South Jn." ? Anyone know why this is?

Great update Pax, but could really have done with some Vogon poetry in there to liven things up a little ;)

I think that's a really good idea; seems crazy just to let them go to waste. Seeing that they offer super-offpeak tickets between 11am-3pm or something like that, it makes sense to also try do the same thing with first class.

Will be great to have the full gate line restored; get's a little cramped in the mornings and evenings during the commuter crush!

    Scotrail Class 385 Discussion

I know it might just come across as moaning, which I don't want to do, but now that I'm regularly riding 385s between Edinburgh and Glasgow, I have to say that having two first class cabins is a colossal waste of space. Other than that, I've been rather enjoying my time travelling on the 385s...

    Scotrail Class 385 Discussion

I was sitting next to the gangway door of car 2 yesterday while travelling from Edinburgh to Glasgow, and it was an absurdly bumpy ride. The bottle of water I had literally jumped off the tray twice and fell onto the floor. Thankfully the cap was on both times, but I ended up holding onto it for...

ScotRail under fire after major disruption around Edinburgh on Saturday 24 August

Thanks for the explanations everyone - I'm much clearer now on the issue. It's a sorry state we've got ourselves in, to be quite frank, but I can clearly see how the spectre of different terms for different staff is a real and obvious sticking point that won't make change easy. And just to be...
