    TFW 2024 Timetable consultation.

Mk4s are here and need to be made to work now as the alternative is chronic short formations across the network to fill the gap if we get rid of them. (Same goes for the 230s) . As new stock isn’t going to be ordered in the current financial climate. TFW are clearly trying to attract more...

    TFW 2024 Timetable consultation.

I think the public could accept this on the basis the freed up stock is used to reinforce other mainline services as opposed to being done to make up for poor reliability across other fleets, or even used on valley lines. The Cambrian line however I can see fierce responses from various...

TFW statement - Future timetable review

Apolgies if it’s been posted elsewhere, sad to see cutbacks on the Cambrian...

CAF Civity for TfW: News and updates on introduction.

Who pays the costs of staffing the testing and mileage accumulation? Is it tfw staff reimbursed by CAF? I assume CAF pay for rectification of all found faults etc? Cheers

    Transport for Wales Class 230

That would be truly awesome wouldn’t it! High capacity for short hops & frequent stops just what they are made for!(well originally ) You never know the sea breeze might just be what’s needed to stop them overheating  Meanwhile back in reality  let’s hope these fixes work to releases...

Bustitution on Cambrian to accommodate private charter

Perhaps I’ve misunderstood but I thought the whole point of the signalling system on the Cambrian was to trial and roll out a system that would allow trains to run faster and much closer together based on a GPS type of system? On that basis why can 1 train not follow 10 minutes behind the other...

CAF Civity for TfW: News and updates on introduction.

For a line like the Cambrian coast a good view should absolutely be taken into consideration. After all the extra trade the views generate year round must surely help contribute to keeping it going. I’ve yet to go on a 197 so can’t personally comment on it’s suitability in terms of window views...

    Wrexham, Shropshire & Midlands Railway

Up Don’t TFW depart Shrewsbury for Holyhead at xx:28? Proposed service has xx:28/29 departures to Wrexham which also means it would be arriving into Shrewsbury at about the same time as TFW arriving from Birmingham. Down the proposed service departs Shrewsbury 2-3 minutes before the tfw...

Destination Swapping at Crewe Station 23/2/24

A regular occurrence at Shrewsbury I believe, had it happen a few times to myself. Presumably for maintenance purposes at Mach 158 depot, or if something other than a 158 has been used/needs to be used to Birmingham.

Northern Tender for up to 450 units

Does that mean most new trains will be 2 carriages ?

    Transport for Wales Class 230

Ignore them, they know exactly what you meant and are being deliberate in missing your point just to have a pop at you.

    New station for Shrewsbury

I’m sure the Shrewsbury parkway proposal keeps resurfacing every couple of years! Less talk and more building needed!

    Transport for Wales Class 230

Would windows being used instead of AC put less strain on the batteries and ease battery over heating problems in summer? Or am I on the wrong track!

CAF Civity for TfW: News and updates on introduction.

Would assume costs? as surely having all units fitted would make things much more flexible and operationally friendly for planners etc

CAF Civity for TfW: News and updates on introduction.

Will ertms units be used elsewhere on the network until they are used/needed on Cambrian line to Birmingham/shrewsbury services? ( when accepted ) Or will they remain stored even after acceptance?

TfW 15x/17x withdrawals (17x now finished)

Which year? But seriously let’s hope all runs smoothly then as if it doesn’t and the 150s all go in August that’s the universal back up to every service gone!! ( ignoring cambrian line services)

    TFW Liverpool-Cardiff

I’m pretty sure it didn’t exist until TFW proposed/implemented it after the required track work was done, Other operators could have done so but didn’t. (Happy to be corrected) They also ordered enough new stock to cover it,it’s just unfortunate they’ve had problem after problem resulting in...

XC trains behing heavily used by Wolverhampton to Birmingham commuters: how could this be resolved?

Does anyone know if the reason West Midlands trains between Birmingham and Shrewsbury state ‘via Wolverhampton & Telford central’ to encourage people to use that service over TFW/XC?

XC trains behing heavily used by Wolverhampton to Birmingham commuters: how could this be resolved?

Isnt it more about ensuring longer distance travellers can actually get on XC & TFW trains when very busy or short formed rather than being left behind so a short hopper traveller can save a couple of minutes?

20mph in Wales, change to bus timetables?

They’ve actually added extra buses into some route pools to allow more resilience, A few other routes have had the odd stop cut to try and counteract delays instead. Full details -...
