Lothian Group discussion (Lothian City, Lothian Country Bus and East Coast Buses)

The reasson 594 was "then" quick was it had a new engine fitted . I was first out in it sitting with it spare at a "strategic " location to cover breakdowns and plug buses .

Lothian Group discussion (Lothian City, Lothian Country Bus and East Coast Buses)

The gearboxes are well worn, just like the 7900s . I didn't mind them but the driver seats were horrific!

Which bus manufacturer has the better build quality?

Cab windows was another source of rattles. I think certainly early B7rles only had one small boost pump to heat the full bus. Draughts were also a nightmare in cold weather. Round town it would be OK. Get it out on a B road especially into a head wind, freezing!

Which bus manufacturer has the better build quality?

With all due respect as a driver, the build quality of gemini B9 tls is not the best. For one they leak like sieves in the wet. So much so the demister heats the water in the bulkhead and steams up your screen. Unless you wad metros in it to soak up the water. Similar story with b7 rle's as...

    Scania/MCW Metropolitans

A large number of SBG fleetline's were ecw bodies. Its true that the lions share of singles were Alexander but not exclusively so. Same story with lothians olympian's (leyland) ones that is. Not sure the reason why. Maybe unable to meet demand at that time is my best guess

Lothian Group discussion (Lothian City, Lothian Country Bus and East Coast Buses)

I would tend to agree. There are certain topics bore me, but I read it and move on. I myself I'm more into tech specs of the actual bus's operating the route, rather than the route itself.

Lothian Group discussion (Lothian City, Lothian Country Bus and East Coast Buses)

Seen it at Waterloo Place. presumably heading back to Central it was still screened X28 edinburgh . It must have been plugging a breakdown. I'm pretty certain you wouldn't get one round Kirknewton. Didn't think to take a pic. There was a 11 plate B5hybrid on it today to.These are normally on...

No I was driving a 18 today 1611075752 Most probably not, like Ex2, under use 1611075924 That they've got rid of two underperforming routes I could probably add another couple if it was up to me

    Trivia: Britain's Strangest Bus Routes

Only one I can think off is when I worked for first was summertime only Stirling Castle to Wallace monument. Pretty much a streight line, lightly used by the odd tourist and puzzled locals. Not very interesting or weird

    West Lothian buses

Well why do you think it should be first to cover those critical and vital routes and links and not LCB. Could it not be first need not bother as it's covered by LCB, it's always the other way round. I'm not looking for an argument either just how it looks. If first want to pound around burning...

    West Lothian buses

So under the same logic should LCB just park everything and let first run around in empty buses. I know that for fact as I've spoke to several first drivers who I've know for some time have stated that fact, plus what I've seen with my own eyes. Yes the above comment was a joke, sitting at home...

Appart from the word "via" blinds still had intermidiate points. Was via points and scrolling not a dislike of Mr Hall?

We're going to sat duties from Mon, is it just me or is referring to Richard Hall as "Hall" not a bit disrespectful?

    Volvo B9 vs B5

I have an appolgy to make just today I was behind Lothian 469 and it was badged B5TL. First I've seen. However the bus I'm on now is 577 Badged as a B5l but is very much a long wheelbase hybrid. The only short wheelbase B5 H 's we have are ex Bullock' s 591/4

    Volvo B9 vs B5

I didn't say we had. He asked a broad question about B5 and B9 and I answered as such. Lothian don't call them B5 TL's as far as I'm aware they are just B5L's. Which you are correct on we don't have any B5 L' s only LH's. I've never even driven one as if I had I would have included that too. I...

    Volvo B9 vs B5

We have both Geminis 2 and 3 on B5 chassis . Telling a B5 and B9 Geminis apart is a bit tricky to the man in the street as both look very similar. However underneath they are very different. B5 has diesel electric drive and as you correctly said has a 5 litter engine electric motor and a bank of...

    West Lothian buses

I think this is the case Jordan. They certainly rack up huge millage very quickly and the obvious wear and tear or more commenly known as abuse!
