    WMT Class 730 impressions

There’s at least 1 M-F diagram on the Wolves to Walsall line that is operated by the new class 730s. My opinion on them? BANG average, they suffer from the same poor ride quality, lighting and poor seat width negatives that its greater anglia sister (the class 720) had, and doesn’t offer...

    Rank new CAF stock

Sorry if this thread has already been made, but a lot of CAF stock has joined the network recently, and I haven’t seen this thread around. Rank all of the modern CAF stock from best to worst. I’ll go first: 1. 196 - to me, this isn’t even a conversation, I was really nervous after riding my...

Which train type will you miss the least when they are all withdrawn?

I could honestly wax lyrical about the class 196s - I use them very frequently since TfW/WMR swapped their calling points of Sandwell and Dudley/Smethwick Galton Bridge. Comfortable seating, reasonable sized tables, decent enough ride quality, perfect ambiance and lighting, the only slight...

Which train type will you miss the least when they are all withdrawn?

153 are admittedly not great, but like the pacers, I feel like they have character and are different to other stock on the network For me, the class 195/331s, I can’t stand them, for a modern train, they’re so underwhelming and lacking in key areas, I’m lucky that in the midlands we have the...

Am I the only passenger who prefers / preferred Pacers to Sprinters ?

I’m of the opinion that the class 150s are largely overhated. I agree, the northern examples are terrible, but the GWR and TfW examples are pretty good for what they are The pacers were bumpy and uncomfortable, and I’m extremely happy that they’re not around anymore

    Favourite individual trains

153323 for me. I have some good memories on that train, and the engine sounds great getting up to speed. Another one would b 172338, my favourite 172 by far

Trivia: Which Type of Bus Will You Miss Most When Withdrawn?

The ones (all the voith ones and some ZF) that meet the Birmingham's clean air zone still enter the city centre on routes operated out of West Bromwich garage (12/A, 13/A, 74, 80) I love the platinum spec ones, the seats are extremely comfortable and the extra legroom is very welcomed Majestic...

Trivia: Corridor served by most bus routes

Perry Barr to Birmingham has the 33, 51, 52, 907, 934, 935, 936, 937(A), 997, as well as two trains per hour. The X51 also passes without stopping

    Pride buses in the UK

As someone who is trans and gay, I find that the pride liveries on buses do make me feel a bit more welcome, it’s not necessarily about making the LGBTQ community, want to catch the bus, but more about promoting equality

Am I falling out of love with the railways?

You’re not at all alone. I’ve been feeling the same recently with all of the rail strikes, sheer amount of delays and shortformed stock. The bus is far more convenient, affordable, frequent and (in terms of NXWM platinum buses) much more comfortable. In my area, I can get the 87 to Birmingham...

Trivia: Bus routes that have been downgraded from Double Deck to Single Deck operation

The 2 (Bushbury Hill to Waterstones via Wolverhampton) was converted to double decks (using E400Hs and Tridents) back when it was reduced to every 12 minutes. Now it’s back to single deck operation (using B7RLE bodied Wright Eclipse Urban 2s), still double deck on Sundays though

    Class 331 ride quality.

I think I owe an apology to the 195/331s, while they do ride horrifically, I’ve found a train that has worse ride quality - the 720* *this is the first time I’m riding them intensively

Snow Hill Lines Likely To Stay at 4tph Long Term

The first train of the day southbound from Stourbridge doesn’t leave until 0958. Do WMT stable any 172s at Stourbridge overnight?

Snow Hill Lines Likely To Stay at 4tph Long Term

I still can’t get over the fact that there’s no changes at all on Sunday. Still no train into Birmingham till after 10 from the north side

WMR Class 196 Build and Implementation

Spoke to soon, 196103 (which was 10 minutes late arriving) was held at New Street for almost 20 minutes, as there was an issue with the doors not opening

    Class 331 ride quality.

The last 331 I caught between Leeds and Frizinghall was really poor, it was shaking about all over the place. The 195 between Sheffield and Lincoln I caught yesterday was appalling too Seems to be a CAF thing. Though the 196s I regularly ride in the midlands are far better in this regard

WMR Class 196 Build and Implementation

I boarded 196104 today (1540 SHR-BHM 1651), I got on at Smethwick Galton Bridge, and I can confirm, it was a great journey The more I ride these 196s, the more and more I really like them, still can’t believe these are built by CAF
