    DCR locos

You would think that Marsh Mills would be cheaper seeing as it’s only 10 minutes down the road as opposed to around 30-40 minutes in the case of Hackney Yard. Hackney has been vacant for years and hasn’t done much heavy bulk freight work for decades so if this stone flow did happen it would be...

Possiblility of Bi Mode Locos for TPE and Night Riviera could cause cascades of stock elsewhere

I cannot believe that anyone is suggesting replacing perfectly good brand new coaching stock only a few years into their life. Okay they aren’t that reliable and they are quite expensive to run but that doesn’t make them or LHCS in general a bad idea for other operators. To replace them now...

    D345 / 40145

I can see the members' view in this, their loco has been painted in a colour they don't approve off and they can't get tickets behind said loco. On the other hand, that doesn't justify mouthing off on Facebook to LSL or anyone else for that matter. You would have thought that it would have been...

Possiblility of Bi Mode Locos for TPE and Night Riviera could cause cascades of stock elsewhere

What levels of horsepower do we think this new class will need if used on the Night Riviera? Keeping in mind that the 57's are around 2750hp and the ETS load requirements for these 9Mk2's is around 455hp on it's own.

    DCR locos

Ah, the two loading points that Tungsten West mentioned were Hemerdon Up Loop and also the sidings at Tavistock Junction. These two seems reasonable but Hemerdon Up Loop is restricted on space. I had not heard about the possibilioty of Hackney Yard. If the timber work continues and this goes...

Possiblility of Bi Mode Locos for TPE and Night Riviera could cause cascades of stock elsewhere

Haven’t heard about them, I am assuming they will be in-mode as well. Realistically if GBRF order them they will be Co-Co so maybe someone is developing a bogie.

    D345 / 40145

I think, don't quote me though as I am not sure, that the owning group and LSL may have fallen out tiny bit hence why 40145 is no longer with LSL.

Tavistock to Bere Alston possible reopening: what infrastructure could be required and what service provision might operate?

Yeah, if it did happen that is. What a project though, I wonder what design they would go for and if it would double or single track.

    DCR locos

So being local, I am familiar with the area and what could potentially go by rail. There is a Tungsten Mine which will be selling aggregate byproducts by rail and sending them up country. This could be a possible flow for DCR if they get the work. Do you happen to know the haulage capability...

Tavistock to Bere Alston possible reopening: what infrastructure could be required and what service provision might operate?

There is no change of that with Meldon, everyone know that the bridge is unusable. NR has said it and a new structure would be needed.

Possiblility of Bi Mode Locos for TPE and Night Riviera could cause cascades of stock elsewhere

They wouldn't, but other than TPE you're getting a bit short when it comes to LHCS operators. 1643033753 It does indeed but no, they could not. Thats my understanding at least. This loco is likely to be Co-Co allowing it to have the larger engine and battery which automatically means that it...

Possiblility of Bi Mode Locos for TPE and Night Riviera could cause cascades of stock elsewhere

I meant 10 years from 2018, not 18 years. 1643033580 What? I don't understand you're question. The Class 73's currently operate the service and, even with a small lack of power, they manage fine. What is it you're asking, Class 37's haven't been used for ages.

Tavistock to Bere Alston possible reopening: what infrastructure could be required and what service provision might operate?

One saving point for the Tavistock reopening is that the infrastructure is still in good condition (bridges etc.) other then Callington Road that is. Luckily we don’t have a Meldon Viaduct situation and that pretty much puts pay to any kind of reopening between Tavistock and Okehampton.

    DCR locos

Does DCR still stand for Devon & Cornwall Railways? If so, do they actually operate anything in Devon and Cornwall as they don’t appear to.

Possiblility of Bi Mode Locos for TPE and Night Riviera could cause cascades of stock elsewhere

Yeah I would agree also. Even though they were showing signs of age it would have been possible to use them for another decade like GWR have opted to do with the CNR and Castle set stock. As for mileages, the most impressive ones would those those built for the Western Region in the 70’s on...

Possiblility of Bi Mode Locos for TPE and Night Riviera could cause cascades of stock elsewhere

Maybe the DfT are looking at the flexibility that comes with having bi-mode locomotives. Here’s hoping they loco hauled makes a return for other operators such as XC

Possiblility of Bi Mode Locos for TPE and Night Riviera could cause cascades of stock elsewhere

Ride and sleep quality may have been better on the mk3's, but the mk3's were ageing and needed replacing. It will forever be the case that the mk3 was the peak of passenger coach design but it is what it is. 1642978190 A rather irrelevant discussion as it doesn't matter. The 8xx family have...

Possiblility of Bi Mode Locos for TPE and Night Riviera could cause cascades of stock elsewhere

Nicer than the mk3's, that's for sure. 1642976968 I read it on a forum a few years back and am currently hunting for it.

Possiblility of Bi Mode Locos for TPE and Night Riviera could cause cascades of stock elsewhere

The 57's were rebuilt in the early 2000's for Virgin trains but the 73's were rebuilt for GBRF in 2016. The 73's are younger and (should) be more reliable, fuel efficient and of course produce less emissions.

Stagecoach were looking at 68+Mk5's for the West of England line if they were to have won the SW franchise again but they obviously didn't. Other than that, you're proabably right with trying it on with the Welsh.
