    Brighton to Manchester route?

It ended as part of the removal of South West Trains from Brighton in December 2007. Miss it still!

what station is a good location for train spotting on the Brighton mainline?

Three Bridges or Gatwick Airport for variety. Maybe somewhere like Purley or Balcombe to capture trains at speed? Not strictly a station but the Jack and Jill pub in Hassocks is adjacent to the Clayton Tunnel (the one with the grand northern portal), and its always fun to stand on the road...

Transfer at Liverpool St or Stratford

If you're changing from the Elizabeth line, I'd suggest Stratford. Less far to walk as the Elizabeth lines and Greater Anglia platforms are parallel to each other. You'll probably arrive on Platform 8 and your Chelmsford train will probably leave from Platform 10. It does have less facilities...

Could a direct Norwich - London service operate via Cambridge when the main line is closed for engineering works?

Moderator note: Split from https://www.railforums.co.uk/threads/great-eastern-weekend-engineering-works.243700/ Is there any ability to potentially divert Norwich to London trains via Cambridge? The trains from Norwich to Cambridge today were packed with hordes people changing onto the...

    Southern Class 313 withdrawal/storage/scrapping updates

I think it was the big (infamous) May 2018 timetable change - certainly the 1721 Eastbourne service was cut back to Lewes at that time.

    Southern Class 313 withdrawal/storage/scrapping updates

What will happen to the guards on these 313s when they move over to 377 operation? Are they ok with converting to OBS's as most will no longer have any booked work as conductor (the top link-171-trained guards excepted)

Greater Anglia engineering work Saturday 11th Nov

Does anyone know why they cannot have two of the four lines open between Liverpool Street and Shenfield? I travelled between London and Three Bridges today, and whilst work was being done on the fast lines, the slow lines were kept open, allowing most services to run.

    Imbalanced service Pevensey and Westham

There used to be two trains from Hastings to Brighton an hour pre-COVID. One (2Gxx) ran between Brighton and Ore, calling at Falmer, Lewes, Glynde, Polegate, Eastbourne, Hampden Park, Pevensey & W'ham, Bexhill, Warrior Square & Hastings. (1Gxx) ran between Brighton and Hastings, calling at...

Trivia: Long or unusual route numbers

Worthing has the PULSE bus route: I'm assuming its named due to serving the hopistal, but can anyone confirm the thinking behind the name?

How far do you think you can go on a continuous bus journey in the UK (Not including coach services)

Not my video, but the Travelling Turtle tried to see how far he could get in 24 hours by just buses! It's a great watch.

What Rolling Stock for Uckfield Line?

Surely terminating services at East Croydon won't save a diagram? The location of the passing loops on the single track would dictate the timetable and as trains pass at Sanderstead (and Ashurst) wouldn't there just be a 171 sitting in East Croydon for 50 minutes? Why not run to London Bridge?

List your 3 most interesting and most boring parts of your local line

Oxted line. Regularly use it to and from London. Best 3 bits (in no particular order): Hurst Green - Sanderstead (in the up direction): Passing over the town of Oxted on the viaduct, before (especially on an Uckfield train) speeding through suburban south London and watching as the scenery...

Poor service at Brighton on weekdays

One of my biggest gripes has been the poor provision of services on the Coastways from Brighton! The West and East Coastway timetables pre 2020 were some of the best on the network, and did a brilliant job of combining connectivity, frequency and both faster and slower sevices. With only 2tph...

Crossrail - Construction updates and progress towards opening (now expected 24 May 2022)

I'd have thought that for Paddington and Liverpool Street at least it would make sense to integrate the two stations as some services may depart from the legacy platforms in peak hours and/or disruption.

    May 2022 Timetable Changes

Very disappointed at the poor provision of Southern's 'Coastway' services. Especially in the summer months, these trains will be rammed. At least restore the West Worthing shuttles.

West Coastway (Havant A Clue How To Improve It?)

In terms of passing loops, would installation of crossovers at Worthing so that Platform 2 becomes bi-directional go some way to providing a loop in the down direction between Hove and Barnham?

Thameslink and Southern timetable reduction from 26th July 2021

The coastway NEEDS more services on a Monday - Friday basis. Services are RAMMED
