WMT (London NorthWestern brand) Travelcard fares

Yes, that's the one. £13.50 for the anytime day return to Crewe (kindly set by WMT!) So £61.50 in total against £94.50 via Avanti which is off-peak and has no travelcard. Worth the inconvenience of going WMT only. Cheers Mark

WMT (London NorthWestern brand) Travelcard fares

Thanks for the replies. I now understand that the restriction is attached to travelcard add-ons and not the ticket itself. I.e. the cheap add on is only valid as part of a Nat Rail ticket. I'd read it as specific to the Cre-Eus ticket which didn't make sense. The challenge now is getting WBQ to...

WMT (London NorthWestern brand) Travelcard fares

Looking for a cheap way to get from Warrington to London for the day, it was apparent that Avanti was a no hoper and I need to go LNW from Crewe. While there is a reasonable off-peak day return, BRfares shows a travelcard option (OFF-PEAK TCDSTD). However, it comes with the following provision...

    Fares rationalisation

An indication of where things are going ... no mention of day returns or whether these are TOC only. https://www.railwaygazette.com/news/news/uk/single-view/view/lner-to-pilot-uk-rail-ticketing-reform.html Cheers Mark

TPE Mark 5A coaching stock progress

Given there are 2 var paths from LO to LIV/MCV in the early morning, does this give an option to start the 68 at LIV or is a 185 kept at LO for the LIV start and the 68 head for MCV to take over the diagram? ... that's when things go to plan of course! Mark

    Strange fare setter

In BR days Runcorn and Warrington had were interchangeable fare wise. WMT are the faresetter for both CRE fares but the fares have diverged over the years with Runcorn being lower now presumably due to the formula applied. The only difference of course is that WMT actually run trains! Hence...

    Strange fare setter

FNW might explain. In these instances I guess they have no incentive to provide offers or discount fares But do they get a share of the revenue if they set the fare? LNW/WMT set the cheapest WBQ-CRE fare which is bizarre ... but handy. But Northern also do a CDR while there's nothing from...

    Strange fare setter

While looking up fares from Warrington to Ulverston on brfares, I noticed all fares to stations between Carnforth and Foxfield are set by TfW! I guess they were previously Arriva Wales but is this accurate or an error in the database. I was wondering whether it was due to an anomaly on one of...

    Fiddler's Ferry line

As for the line over the ship canal, there's a rumour that a company is planning to "reclaim" the embankment on the South side of the bridge. Not sure what's so valuable but I'm sure the locals will have something to say if it's true ! Cheers Mark

    Fiddler's Ferry line

With the announced closure of the PS by Mar 2020, I guess it will be difficult to justify the retention of this line given the only other regular traffic is the JLR/Aluminium train to Italy. I understand coal stocks are high, but presumably there will be the need for some clearance work when the...

    Vintage Tri-Ang TT Gauge

Your best port of call is the 3mm Society. They resell 2nd hand Triang. I sold my collection to them a few years ago. Their website will point you to other dealers. You see a few vanilla Triang layouts on the circuit but proper 3mm modelling requires a lot of kit/scratch skills. I guess N scale...
