    P&O Discount question

I know RST members get 25% off travel on P&O bookings but without wanting to sound stupid, would this discount only apply to those who are travelling with an ATOC card? Or is it basically 25% discount on the whole booking? It seems that after putting my ATOC number in I can book for as many as...

Alliance Blackpool service to be run by Grand Central and start in 2021

Your right it’s illegal so the 8:42 lodges and the second lodge driver brings back the 12:57. They use a combination of lodging (2 drivers a night) and ‘double manning’ of crews to get around tight turnarounds. It’s very Costly but worth it when that’s the paths they are given to work with.

Alliance Blackpool service to be run by Grand Central and start in 2021

Probably the same way as they work their Sunderland diagrams, I’m quite confident the train crew diagrams and timetables were produced hand in hand!! Unless your onto something they’ve missed, who’d have thought you need to produce train crew diagrams to fit a timetable. I suppose they look...

Yeah they are at least half way now in fact there can’t be many more left to do

Should Grand Central replace their 180s?

no end in sight for the 180 as of yet, look out for 10 car sets in the not too distant future! Summer will come and they will have to think about replacing them, they dont like the summer.

Hull Trains 180 on fire again.

nightmare for them, they do have some major failures of their 180s and GC dont seem quite as bad. They are all looked after by the same people at crofton so it does seem to be down to luck or maybe the way they run theirs in service. Today was day two of 100% cancellations. 0% PPM

    Grand Central cancellations (03/10)

Looking at the figures though in the last 12 months you would have been worse off on LNER looking at their respective PPM, you would have been worse off on LNER in relation to cancellation and significan lateness and you would have been worse off on LNER for right time performance. All figures...

    Weather related disruption Leeds/York/Doncaster (27/07)

We do have to wait and hear what went on but for something as big as this to happen during a thunderstorm lessons have to be learned. Clearly something has slipped as this shouldn’t be allowed to happen to such a critical part of the infrastructure. We can’t insulate every piece of equipment but...

    Weather related disruption Leeds/York/Doncaster (27/07)

Do me a favour, look at the northern map in Yorkshire and look at the LNER map in Yorkshire, (in the affected areas) then think about your comment.

Looks like york signalling is down again. All lines showing LBLK

    Weather related disruption Leeds/York/Doncaster (27/07)

Thankfully I’m off today as an operational member of staff on the ground I know it will be truly horrible working today. However it is a bit pathetic that we can’t cope with bad weather on this network. Look over Germany at any given time in the summer and you will be very likely to see a...

Fire on board Hull Trains 1A93 10 May 2018

Booked trains is easy, but now when they are diverting the rest of the VTECs through there your talking an extra 2-3 booked electrics an hour also with things running so late you will obviously get a boat load through at once.

Fire on board Hull Trains 1A93 10 May 2018

Does anyone know how the box regulates the hertford loop in accordance with the following local instruction? "LN120 - WOOD GREEN NORTH JN. TO LANGLEY JN VIA HERTFORD Entire Line Of Route No more than 18 electric trains per line may be operated over the Hertford Loop in any one hour period." Im...

Fire on board Hull Trains 1A93 10 May 2018

1A93 stopped at or near welwyn north with reports of a fire on board. Does anybody know the extent of this 'fire on board'? ECML diverting via hertford loop it seems. I hope all on board are OK anyway. Couldn't have stopped in a worse place.... right between a tunnel and a viaduct!

    Train uncoupled at Leeds

That portion of the unit is being driven back to the station, theres a driver in the cab and EBS is raised, so clearly post incident. The brakes will have stopped this unit a matter of feet apart.

    Train uncoupled at Leeds

Its a metal strap that stops any external forces interfering with the arm. Ran without them for many years but using that is a belt and braces idea. So nothing worrying about it at all.
