TfL considering Sydenham corridor AM improvement

I remember the semi-fast peaks from London Bridge. They were largely Guildford services which called at New Cross Gate, Forest Hill, Sydenham and Norwood Junction before all stops to Guildford in the evening peaks. The morning peak service was from from Dorking, Epsom or Guildford. The...

Farewell B.R 'circus horn' and Emma Hignett

The tannoy volume is considerably lower since the switch to Worldline at Forest Hill. I'm assuming it's down to residential complaints from the recent residential builds that are opposite or next to the station.

Farewell B.R 'circus horn' and Emma Hignett

Forest Hill has switched to Atos Anne. (Worldine).

Farewell B.R 'circus horn' and Emma Hignett

The last time I used Forest Hill on Friday, Emma Hignett was still the station voice. I take it those ex Southern stations are now using Atos Anne?

TfL considering Sydenham corridor AM improvement

TfL have confirmed that there will be a one-off London Overground service to London Bridge on Easter Sunday, operating 2tph between London Bridge and West Croydon. Driver training will be on Sunday 25th February. (4tph will operate between Sydenham and New Cross Gate with a shuttle to Crystal...

TfL considers Taylor Swift-style 'dynamic pricing' for Tube journeys

The ELL extension in South London is on the TfL/LU scale. I understand NR Zone 2 fares charged on the northern part of the ELL core if travelling from a station north of Hoxton to Whitechapel, Shadwell and Wapping for stations in Zone 2 because of the Zone 1 island at Shoreditch High Street...

    London Overground Boxing Day

I imagine the 2tph shuttle service between New Cross Gate and Crystal Palace was barely used yesterday? (It continues until Thursday and then goes up to 4tph with those going to West Croydon on Friday).

Where are the London fare zones measured from?

I remember what is now Zone 3 being part of the Outer zone for buses as East Dulwich was split between Inner and Outer. North of Goose Green including East Dulwich Station was in Inner and the retail area in Outer. Later it was split between 2 and 3. The Goose Green bus stops were 2/3 when...

Where are the London fare zones measured from?

The Tattenham Corner branch and Epsom Downs branch stations within Surrey are also in Zone 6.

    LU/Elizabeth Line 4G update

The speed cap seems to have been lifted at Tottenham Court Road's EL platforms on EE at least. Still capped at Farringdon and Liverpool Street.

ORR unveils station usage data between April 2022 and March 2023

The fact Woolwich has 8m justifies why a station was built there when apparently it was originally going to be fast from Custom House to Abbey Wood. If you build a direct fast service into Central London and Canary Wharf from those two parts of SE London which for decades have been...

East London Line before December 2007

I certainly used it more once the JLE opened because of the cheaper TfL only fares from New Cross Gate. If I was in Lewisham and wanted to go into the West End, instead of using Southeastern to Charing Cross, I'd bus it up to New Cross Gate and then use the ELL/JLE. Now I use the ELL all the...

East London Line before December 2007

I seem to recall the ELL was 5tph to New Cross and 4tph to New Cross Gate off-peak in the noughties. As I'm local enough to have used the old LU line from childhood, I remember when it had D stock on it in the late 80s before the A60/62 stock returned.

    London's Worst Station

Erith. I used to commute from there at night and you'd find teenagers mucking about, crossing the live rail rather than use the footbridge and the lack of staffing made it intimidating. The whole Greenwich branch bar Abbey Wood is grim no thanks to the lack of staffing by Southeastern. I also...

TfL considering Sydenham corridor AM improvement

TfL are still considering Dalston Junction to Crystal Palace extras instead which may be simpler to manage than the London Bridge option.

TfL considering Overground extension to London Bridge

They could allocate the terminating gatelines at the Southern end of the station to accept TfL through fares. I'm sure it could be calculated that passengers who use Queen's Road Peckham and Peckham Rye into London Bridge using Southern rather than the Overground will get charged NR fares or...

TfL considering Overground extension to London Bridge

GTR claimed in their response to Lewisham Council that they'd require extra funding to return to 4tph on the Sydenham slows. They also claim that the current 2tph service has enough capacity without recognising the pressure it's putting on Overground services as passengers are using the ELL...

Elizabeth Line now has most cancellations

Delay refunds on the EL and the ELL cores should be at 15 minutes considering the tube style frequencies both have, yet they're the standard NR 30 minutes.

TfL considering Overground extension to London Bridge

In responses made to Lewisham Council, Transport for London are considering adding a service into London Bridge along the Sydenham corridor to relieve the current ELL service which has become overcrowded, especially in the morning peak due to Southern cutting the London Bridge service from 4tph...

    Best looking London Underground stations?

Cockfosters at surface level isn't great, but go down into the booking hall and it's wonderful. Others I like are Canary Wharf for the grand concourse and Uxbridge for the 30s charm.
