CAF Civity for TfW: News and updates on introduction.

we also need the new 197's to work in autumn conditions without getting wheel flats and to be available for service without breaking down or failing so they can reliably replace departed units and provide a better service than what is happening tomorrow with 89 cancellations. The rumoured...

CAF Civity for TfW: News and updates on introduction.

89 cancellations and 5 curtailments across TFW network tomorrow Wed 6 Dec - no doubt unexpectedly poor availability of brand new 197's with wheel flats for goodness sake (thought those problems went when the pacers went and 150's were all fitted with WSP -isn't this fitted to new 197 and 231...

Transport for Wales Class 231 / 756 FLIRTs

There are blue stop boards displaying 'FLIRT 3/4' on the main southbound platform at Pontypridd so an indication they will be used there and maybe north of there?

    South Wales 'Metro' updates

Map attached in post #4660 25/06/23 this thread - lots of detail, not just planned wiring, but includes planned new station toilets - they appear more sparse than I remember in the impression I formed a while back from replies given to questions about lack of on-train toilets on the tram trains...

    South Wales 'Metro' updates

Indeed, the S Wales metro is already behind schedule and over budget apparently, but then so also was the original Edinburgh tram airport to city centre by a. considerable margin as pointed out. The Crossrail project in London was also over budget and significantly late opening. So the WG is...

Heart of Wales rolling stock discussion

The DFT also still has influence over TFW due to the fact that Wales and Borders provides services and operates stations within England. This has everything to do with how WG runs the W + B franchise, 'brand', or whatever you call it now. The Transfer of Powers Order that gave WG control of the...

Progress of delivery of cascaded/refurbished/PRM modified stock to TFW/Wales and Borders

I changed trains at Swansea yesterday on a journey to Fishguard. No 153's seen outside Landore so must be inside the workshop, 2 ex Northern 142's in sidings there. Didn't notice any 153's on West Wales services, passed 175's on West Wales- Manchester runs (but the Pembroke Dock branch was...

    Transport for Wales 769's

There was disruption/congestion at central due to cable theft - it set off late so maybe the loco had to return before it got to Canton? Or maybe limited space at Canton?

    Ah Thanks - makes sense.

    TfW Class 170's

Once again the question arises about the state in which the ex-GA units were transferred.

    Transport for Wales 769's

Did this actually arrive at canton pullmans? On RTT no actual times shown after Rumney Junction

Progress of delivery of cascaded/refurbished/PRM modified stock to TFW/Wales and Borders

The fact that only 3 or 4 of the (10 so far) cascaded 170's are in service and none of the 5 ex-GA 153's have so far appeared means that TFW have not had the boost to the number of serviceable units expected. It prompts the question as to what state the ex-GA 170's and 153's were in when handed...

Progress of delivery of cascaded/refurbished/PRM modified stock to TFW/Wales and Borders

The key point is that the dispensation letters from DfT to TFW regarding derogations for pacers make no mention of confining them to certain routes or restricting them to use coupled with compliant units, so TFW are ignoring just their own self-imposed restrictions on the use of pacers post Jan...

Progress of delivery of cascaded/refurbished/PRM modified stock to TFW/Wales and Borders

It has taken 12 months to PRM modify 23 150's and 4 153's, that is a total of 27 done in that time. The rate of work did speed up a bit as time went on, but another 22 in 6 months - quite an ask! Also, the 9 769s and 5 230s plus 3 sets of Mk 4's need to arrive in good time to join the 12 170's...

    TFW problems on Saturday

TFW a shambles every day for over a week now and again today with 22 cancellations and a large number of curtailed services seemingly virtually over much of the network. The new catch-all reason given is "resource availability" - which means not enough staff or traction to run the long-promised...

    TfW Class 170's

A move from Central Rivers to Canton planned for tomorrow - looks like a 170. https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/K06015/2019-12-21/detailed

    TfW Class 170's

https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/K05876/2019-12-17/detailed Was this possibly a cancelled transfer of the last 3-car ex GA 170 for TFW from Central Rivers to Tyseley?

    TfW Class 170's

Having purchased a ticket from Ebbw Vale to Bridgend today I can confirm that no first class options are available for sale on these services !

    TfW Class 170's

There is one 3-car 170 in a siding behind the shed at Pullmans canton which has no TFW/WB branding yet so appears to be not yet in service - the front of another 170 can be seen at one entrance to the Pullman canton shed so is presumably inside for work.
