    CrossCountry HST Diagrams

I travelled on the 12.27 ex Plymouth yesterday (29.06) from Exeter & alighted at Worcestershire Parkway (special stop due to cancellations on the Cardiff to Nottingham route). On the basis there are only two HST worked services each way I’m thinking a call there by a ‘proper’ train must be...

Do you leave your ticket “out” on the table?

I think too infrequent should read non existent. I can’t believe a business can allow millions per year to be thrown away because folks know they can not pay & get away with it.

Declassification of First Class on busy long distance services

It seems that since the reinstatement of certain services they cannot cover everything on the NE/SW route with double sets.

    Pathfinder Tours Hadrian Hoovers

I'm not sure about whether a pair of 50's has ever visited the Durham Coast or Tyne Valley routes. In answer to your question relating to 50049, the Fifty Fund facebook page has declared Defiance fit after testing on one of the SVR diesel diagrams last Saturday, so that's good news.

Trivia: Shortest-lived name a station has had

Wellington in Shropshire was renamed Wellington Telford West for a short time in the 1980's. Once Telford Central opened in May 1986 it was renamed back to Wellington.

LNWR service from Liverpool to Birmingham and London.

It was obvious that combining New St to Euston with New St to Liverpool was never going to work. The obsession with not having services start & terminate at New St has led to absolute carnage.

When was a tank train last scheduled to go via Hereford?

In regard the last regular tank train to run via Hereford I would hazard a guess at the Burn Naze to Barry Docks vinyl tanks. This ceased running in 1999. Motive power was usually a Class 56.

    Paddington to Birmingham services

The Paddington to Hull service also conveyed a portion for Leeds. The train divided at Sheffield. The return working was a Leeds/Hull to Brighton service which combined at Sheffield.

Split 1st Advances on through train

My booking done via the ATW website & not the XC seat selector so perhaps this is the explanation.

Split 1st Advances on through train

Not sure if that is still the case. I travelled from Newcastle to Stourbridge Junction yesterday which involved four different tickets and on the XC service from Newcastle to Birmingham I had the same seat reserved each time. The Derby to Stourbridge ticket was not an advance however (the...

London Midland stepping up ticket checks

I travelled from Snow Hill to Stourbridge tonight. Surprise surprise no ticket check......again. Folks know they can get away without paying so they do it all the time.

London Midland stepping up ticket checks

I would say that this applies to most LM routes. They just don't seem bothered about protecting revenue.

Class 50 Alliance acquires 50007 Hercules

The reason the 50's were built was due to major problems with the Class 47 Sulzer power unit. These problems forced BR to move away from Sulzer powered loco's and the Class 47 power units were permanently de-rated to 2,580hp. Therefore it can be argued that if the 47's had been up to scratch...

    Robeston oil diagrams

Mark, have you any idea regarding the date of the last Lindsey to Westerleigh tanks? I've got a video of the northbound empties at Barnt Green on Feb 26th so it looks as if this was one of the final runs. I didn't realise it was finishing.
