Commuting from Three Bridges to City Thameslink

Things will not 'eventually get back to normal'! Countless numbers of commuters will in future be working from home for at least part of the week leading to, you would think, more space on the trains...... But then the Govt starts reducing non profitable services until they become overcrowded...

Avanti West Coast recruiting QUALIFIED DRIVER TALENT POOL ONLY at London Euston, Liverpool, Manchester, and Wolverhampton depots. (Posted 1/2-09-2020)

So why do drivers put up with crap ASLEF company council? Go to meetings, speak up and get rid of the old dinosaurs that never drive a train but set the roster for everyone who does. Or quit ASLEF, and email them telling them why you are quitting.

Differences in style/leadership/etc between the RMT and ASLEF

That's because ASLEF got battered a few years ago and lost a shed load of money in court over the GATEX 12 car dispute. They are skint and therefore can't pick any fights, making them as much use as an ashtray on a motorbike

Trivia: Most impressive stretch of line on the network?

I did Lancaster to Carlisle via Barrow the other day, the Carnforth to Barrow section is stunning. Also did Carlisle to Skipton the day after with a stop off in Settle. Think the Settle and Carlisle is hard to beat.

GWR Class 166 Declassified First Class closed off

3 car 195 on the 1459 Windermere to Oxenholme today. Guard kicks everyone off the rear coach then puts the dreaded big yellow sign up saying this area closed off so guard can carry out his duties. So the guard needs a whole coach to be able to operate the doors safely while fare paying...

Avanti West Coast recruiting QUALIFIED DRIVER TALENT POOL ONLY at London Euston, Liverpool, Manchester, and Wolverhampton depots. (Posted 1/2-09-2020)

Train drivers working 10 or 11 days in a row? Safety critical job. What sort of union allows that in this day and age?, oh yes of course its those dinosaurs at ASLEF

    Avanti Reservations

Hi does anyone know if Avanti are still insisting on reservations? Is there always an unreserved coach in each train? Thank you

LNER Considering Requiring Passengers to Check-in Before Travel

Couldn't agree more, let sensible people travel like we did pre Covid without jumping through hoops. If you're paranoid or don't feel safe then use your car. If the TOCs want people to come back to the railway they are going a strange way about it.
