Franchising is desperately needed but SPT are not the ones to lead it. We need a new public body for the Glasgow area as we all know SPT are about as useful as a chocolate fireguard.
It would also be the perfect opportunity for a total recast of the bus network based on a few simple rules...
Most newer buses have a moveable arm on the aisle side which also has the disabled stop bell. This provides restraint that the older non-moveable one or just the plain pole didn't provide, so the grab bar on the window was needed.
For a small bus, personally I don't think there's anything on the market from a passenger point of view that is anywhere near as comfortable. The closest would be the Merc Sprinter conversions and even they're not great, in my opinion.
First Glasgow is an oddity as the 9 branded E200EVs seem to have the air con stuck on all year round but the other E200 EVs don't seem to have this issue.
I was on the very first first Glasgow 3 when Simplicity was launched. We ended up on Great Western Road and I had to redirect the driver back on to the proper route.
Give first Glasgow theit due this year the E200EV, E400 MMC and EV and even the Geminis I have been on are pretty warm and nothing was excessively warm in the summer this year.
There have been several weird allocations the last couple of days: older enviros on the 9/A, Geminis and e400s on the 10, 57/A, 87, 46 and 7/A to name a few. It feels like a very jumbled up allocation.
I am assuming there has been some sort of issue at Caledonia this morning as there are more 65 plate E300s and Geminis out on the 9/A and 10 this morning than normal.
