    CrossCountry Qualified Train Driver

As is their right. Those same people rushing back for RDW are the ones that allow you to get your lieu and float days whenever you'd like.

Avanti - Trainee Train Drivers - Multiple Locations (28/02/23)

Nothing is wrong with hitting rdw as a new driver if you need the funds. Just think of it as a golden goose, don't go after it too hard. Like others have said though, the more time spent in the cabin, the higher likelihood you can have an incident.

Current Arriva Driver roster - New Cross Gate

Depends what link/roster pattern you're on bud. There's 4 links to choose from but I can only speak on mine where I do 2 weekends on 2 weekends off. In regards to shift changes, on a spare turn where you've been 'marked up' you'll generally know a minimum a week before hand what your shift...

Current Arriva Driver roster - New Cross Gate

Generally do a week of earlies then mids then lates, sometimes 2 weeks in a row, all depends on the link you join. Worst case if you don't like your shift just switch it with someone aslong as it doesn't break Hidden. Saying that, you could be on a week of earlies but get marked up to something...

Has anyone had success appealing against the train driver simulator assessment at second fail?

Definitely speak to ASLEF. I know of someone who failed their second attempt, appealed with ASLEF and had a third attempt. He had extenuating circumstances, some family issues and lack of consecutive driving hours so if you were to apply and something was going on behind the scenes *cough...

    Arriva london trainee driver

Most time spent at Swiss Cottage then Willesden in latter stages of training. Training is scheduled for 8-9 month but its Driving Instructor dependent so expect it to go on for atleast 10-12 with alot of Front Ending, although pay will be back dated to scheduled passing out date you were given...

    Arriva London trainee drivers

Theres nothing that's most failed on, statistically it may be GBT but each test is as difficult as the next. Don't neglect practicing all test equally just to focus on the more "difficult" assessment.

    carrer as a train driver

I'd say don't wait for Govia. Apply for any TOC thats recruiting within a reasonable distance, then look at transferring once qualified.

    Police vs Railway

With the addition of paying for needless CKP training...starting the role of a police officer with debt is always fun.

    Police vs Railway

What is wrong with leaving for the money? There's no obligation to stay in a career that doesn't pay what you feel you deserve. And sure you'll get in trouble driving for doing the wrong thing. As much as i know though in regards to driving, you don't get in trouble for doing the right thing...

    Police vs Railway

From being response for 2 years (albeit a very small amount of time to experience what the met has to offer) and now finishing off my driver training, putting both careers side by side its a no brainer for me. The cons in the police far outweigh any pros, although this is just my opinion. The 6...
