    Caledonian Sleeper

You'd be correct, they confirmed that on Twitter later on. I suppose it makes sense to do it that way to keep crew closer to home, but frustratingly it does mean one delay cascades as it has done here.

Would hazard a guess that tonight's northbound Lowlander is having some troubles too. We arrived into Preston relatively on time (by CS standards at any rate) but have been sitting here for an hour and a half now with no movement or updates. The schedule says we were supposed to be in Carlisle...

Likewise, I sense there might be some buses in our future having seen the state of that line :(

TOPS Requests (including headcodes, allocations, traction, etc) [Instructions in Post 2]

Hi, does anybody know what was on 1C86 (1503 London Paddington to Penzance) on Wednesday? I was so tired at the time I must have forgotten to note down what it was.

We're you in K16 by any chance? I got off at Bristol so you might have ended up in my seat :D On the subject of the video, I like it. I spoke to Geoff briefly both on the platform and on the train, he's really nice guy. The side of my head appears in it too when he's at the buffet :p

I assume they didn't put any more out for people joining the train later on :( That was the only freebie I'm aware of - you could buy window signs and posters at the buffet though. They brought through some goody bags through first class but they all went to the VIP's in carriage L as far as I...

Thanks to all that I saw out there today, and to everybody who's posted here over the past four or five months, it's been a blast keeping track of the final days of HST's and today was an even better send-off than I expected! Being in 1st class on the 18:30, bumping into Geoff Marshall and some...

Should go through as scheduled, removing the last few stops just gets it back on schedule from Worcester, rather than having the return leg heavily delayed too.

The boards at Pershore are saying this too. Lucky that I moved down the line from Malvern, otherwise I might have been stuck. [Insert annoyed noise here]

Urgh, that would be unfortunate, Malvern is amongst my favourite destinations so I jumped at the chance to book myself on it. Fingers crossed, for that and 43002. The best laid plans.

If the final HST is sold out, then that's going to be a rather snug experience, but good all the same. I suppose it'll be authentic seeing as a lot of the other journeys I did on them were full. I just hope we get the full roster for the full day - they seem to have been failing all too...

I was in K in both directions - the proximity to the buffet car proved dangerous :D I've not heard the term "crank coach" before, what's it in reference to?

43009 and 43185 had a great run up to Carmarthen and back today. Thanks for the diagrams, it got me beyond Cardiff for the first time, and my first run in first class on an HST too. The turnout to see it was great, there were about 20 people photographing it at Swansea on the way out which was...

I've only recently discovered some of the first class advance pricing quirks which I've been taking advantage of. Today, for example, for the Carmarthen run. £10 for a first class single (or £6.60 with a railcard), which is cheaper than any form of standard class single. At the time of writing...

I'll join in with the thank you's too :D Thank you all for the diagrams, the chit-chat, and the random facts over the past few months. It's kept me busy, indulged my nostalgia about trips to Bath and Bristol with my Dad, and got me to a fair few places that I hadn't been before. My only regret...

Plenty of tickets still available at https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/the-flying-banana-tickets-59925300186 by the looks of it :) I'd have gone, but I'm going to be out until the early hours the night before, which might make that 5:30am start might be a struggle :D

Thanks as always for the details - I'm very tempted by that Carmarthen run on the Sunday seeing as I can't make the Flying Banana tour. It's a shame there's only one starting from Paignton and not any going to Paignton though, I'd love to do that run on an HST for the first and last time. We're...

[trivia] Stations having a better service during engineering works than noramlly

During electrification work on the line between Swindon and Bristol Parkway, all Wales services were diverted via Bristol Temple Meads and up to Patchway. It was great being able to get mainline trains and not just the usual local stoppers.

I have the same situation, I'm booked in first class in Coach E which wouldn't be first class on a HST as far as I know. Never mind though, it'll be a good day out all the same even if it isn't :)
