    Club Avanti

No problem with either the app or the website here. Now in year two of Club Avanti here and we’ve both just got our second free first class ticket codes sent through. Already used the second SP ones and the first class lounge access. Can’t grumble as it’s a freebie — indeed arguably for a...

People buying houses with associated noise (churches, railways etc) and then complaining about the noise?

This led to the well-documented demise of one of Reading's most popular nightclubs -- The After Dark. Long story short: new flats built nearby > new residents complain about the noise coming from a nightclub that's been there for decades > nightclub has to shut down after council intervention...

Euston Disruption From Signalling Faults (2/3 April)

…and they’ve just had the cheek to reject my delay repay claim from yesterday lunchtime, despite my being delayed well over 60 mins!

    Ta for clarifying chap!

    Tube train automated announcements 2005

Think I've read somewhere that if they stop at a red for more than 60 seconds in a tunnel they have to play that one.

Why are XC allowed to continue?

Only on the rare occasions they’re signalled on the UM from Moreton Cutting to Tilehurst East (admittedly this did happen on the service I was on earlier, presumably because we were running ~20 mins late and there was a stopper ahead on the UR).

Will we ever see a replacement for Concorde ?

    I'd agree with this, yes.

    XC timetable changes 25-29 March.

Looks like there are a few more double sets operating Manchester <> Bournemouth today than usual.

    Tube train automated announcements 2005

Appreciate this may be one of the daftest posts on here in a while as the link's broken (and think has been for a while), but this website I have bookmarked from yonks ago had pretty much full recordings of all LU announcements (and many other metro systems across the globe) from around the time...

What video games do you like playing?

I bought a Nintendo Switch a year ago or so with the intention of trying some new stuff out. I have dabbled with Mario vs. Donkey Kong and the latest version of Mario Kart, but I do spend most of my time on it playing old SNES / NES / GameBoy games on it! '90s nostalgia action is just too...

Landslip at Wellington (Shropshire), Birmingham - Shrewsbury services suspended

They did the same thing with ticketing between Oxford and Reading during the Nuneham viaduct closure a couple of years ago.

Progress on Avanti West Coast's 805/807s Hitachi AT300 sets

As per @AlterEgo 's post above, it's for gauging tests for diversions for the Old Oak Common works later this year.

Aye, same here. First time I've seen that.

    Evesham Railtour puzzle.

Welcome to the forum! Looking at RTT, it seems to have reversed from south of Cheltenham back up towards Worcester, and then diverted via. Evesham, Oxford etc. down to Didcot Parkway, where it picked up its planned route, so that would have been what she saw (I reckon). It 'appeared' at Didcot...

Poor boarding experience at Euston (11/03)

It’s been on there every time I’ve passed through to get an Avanti service recently (at least twice a week).

    Avanti Premium

100% -- people wanting a table seat with a socket on a train arriving in the capital between 8-8:30am -- a no brainer, surely.

    Avanti Premium

Removing SP from peak arrivals into Euston seems to have bombed. SP used to be pretty much full up on some of the ex. Birmingham services into town on weekday mornings. Now it’s a first class carriage, it’s normally empty. Go figure eh!

Station announcer phraseology no longer used

Ooh, that’s just given me a flashback to the Sutton loop about 20/25 years ago. I remember there used to be automated announcements broadcasted from the help points (bit odd) at Tooting that would say “the next train has just left Streatham and will be with you shortly”, or something similar...
