Does anyone know if there’s been a policy change about training? Finished AB IST and been told I’m on a TCB course straight after but I’m not going to a TCB area so won’t use it.

Just had a call from my LOM, now going to Preston on 1st Feb instead of Manchester. Anyone else on here joining me?

Thanks for the info. My LOM gave me the info but no specifics as yet. I’m aware that there have been numerous temp training schools set up during this so maybe there is another one. TBH I don’t mind where I go, I just want to get started. Just out of curiosity, how is the hotel and what’s the...

Thanks Pancakes, I’ve been told to report to my LOM on the 1st to get books, paperwork, logins and stuff. Don’t know how the rest of the week will go as my SB is single manned. Just wait and see. Good luck to you too. Can’t wait to get started!

Hi Jetsetter, I had my interview mid May, got the phone call 4 days later to give me the good news. It then took until the start of July to get my formal offer and another month to get a start date. As has been said many times, HR do not work quickly. Patience is definitely a virtue! :)

Morning all, a question about booking time off please. I don’t start until 1st Feb but curious about how far in advance I would need to book time off for a couple of important events I have next year? And if you don’t use all your annual allowance can you carry forward the unused days or do you...

Hi Bunnymomma, I’m just guessing here, but if you’re female and married, I also had to send a copy of my marriage certificate to show my change of name

I am feeling so lucky right now. I've been trying for this box for over a year and missed out up until now. Fortunately spoke with the LOM and Area Manager and they both confirmed that the move to electronic is a long way off for the S&C Line so should have quite a few years pulling the levers...

Garsdale SB. A lovely little single manned, grade 2 listed box in the middle of nowhere. And it’s right opposite my home :)

Now I’m officially excited! Formal offer received and accepted. Medical to come and then wait for confirmed start date, but looking likely it won’t be until jan at either Preston or Manchester. It feels like it’s taken forever but finally moving on to my new career. To all those trying and...

That’s it! Finally got my pre-offer through today having had the phone call mid-May. It’s been a nervous wait but getting closer at last. Expecting to start training school in January but that’s fits perfectly with my notice period from the current job. I can’t thank everyone enough for all the...

Thanks for the info. Applied 3 times for the same SB plus a couple of others. Taken me a year but finally got the nod. Now just waiting for the formal offer and a start date (hopefully this week according to my LOM)

I hate to ask a question about money, but hoping there is a Grade 2 signaller on here who can answer a question for me. I’ve been offered a G2 post and am now wondering what an accurate take home pay would be. I know what the basic is, but with rostered nights and weekends on 12s, without any...

I've applied 3 times for the same box while other applications have been open. It's finally paid off as I've been offered a job. Go for it!
