    London Blackfriars - Thameslink - 20-21/4/2024

Hi @Bald Rick - I started this thread because I needed to make this journey - somehow. From a position of ignorance, I am much informed by your care and knowledge in painting the fuller picture - a very big thank you. This is when these posts are at their best, when they inform - as opposed to...

    London Blackfriars - Thameslink - 20-21/4/2024

Thanks @Peregrine 4903 - it's a massively important core and not that easy to cross London without - takes a fair amount of traffic from N of London to Gatwick, Brighton etc - especially at weekends.

    London Blackfriars - Thameslink - 20-21/4/2024

Perhaps closing the core over night at times would be less inconvenient to the majority than weekend closures. Looking at my local London trains they are at their busiest over the weekend, especially Saturday. I appreciate at times there would still need to be a longer (weekend) closure.

Cancellations on the Hertford North Line 14/11/2023

Thanks @brambling - that's a lot of cancelled services for three 717 stables - one wonders if they couldn't have gone to Hornsey, Gordon Hill, Hertford P3, Welwyn?

Cancellations on the Hertford North Line 14/11/2023

So is that roughly 10,000 seats that didn't run this evening and now the expense of buses ..... Does anyone know if this is Hornsey for certain?

Cancellations on the Hertford North Line 14/11/2023

Can't understand why someone can't either act up or down in such circumstances - such as would happen in other businesses. There's now a further 5 trains cancelled - just how may passengers might that be this evening? It's not the NR message which is dammed it's the failure to have flexible...

Cancellations on the Hertford North Line 14/11/2023

Tonight's cancellations are :- The reason given is:- https://www.nationalrail.co.uk/service-disruptions/moorgate-20231114/ I don't imagine that I am the only one to find this incredulous - the folk expecting to be able to board these trains will doubtless think likewise.

    ECML disruption 20/09/22

Line closed all day today bus all the way - chaps still working between Winchmore Hill & Grange Park tonight (23:10) - presumably scheduled possession.

    ECML disruption 20/09/22

We obviously need some battery/hydrogen thunderbirds at HN and WG sidings to maintain rush hour services :)

    ECML disruption 20/09/22

Any reason trains couldn't run Moorgate to HN and back (like they used to) this is affecting huge numbers for whom a service could surely run?

ETCS Roll-Out on ECML South Confirmed

I note the comment re Tornado and understand that it has ETCS fitted - so presumably will be able to work from Kings Cross when the change over happens. I also understand that there is a class 55 near completion - is there a forum for ETCS conversions to mainline steam locos anywhere? Or could...

Crossrail - operating discussion and opening day 24th May

Thanks for that - I also understand that in the event the Eliz line only connects to Westbound services at Barbican as planned bridge didn't occur - Wiki Elizabeth line[edit] Elizabeth line platforms at Farringdon are connected to Barbican's westbound platform. Farringdon's Barbican ticket...

Crossrail - operating discussion and opening day 24th May

My grip is with the bloody mindedness of TFL (and their map) which implies that you cannot get on the Eliz line at Oxford Circus, Barbican or Moorgate, which is untrue. It is ridiculous to expect commuters to know that these stations are 'twinned' with Bond Street, Farringdon and Liverpool...
