    Odd Pathing - Avanti 1P07 Saturday 28/5/22

Thanks for that. At the time there didn't seem to be much traffic on OpenTrainTimes but as you said there were actually a few services at 4ish minutes headway on that section. Warrington BQ was rammed with people after a music festival in the town so that took a while too. Lesson learned...

    Odd Pathing - Avanti 1P07 Saturday 28/5/22

Thanks Bald Rick. Didn't know about the trespass part, I'm sure that definitely had an impact. Any idea why it was booked slow line to Hanslope? Seemed odd as we had the locals whizzing past us. The extra stops certainly add to the booked time but despite that it all seemed slower than it...

    Odd Pathing - Avanti 1P07 Saturday 28/5/22

We travelled on the 20:31 1P07 from Euston to Preston on Sunday evening which took an absolute age to get to Preston. Apart from the delay caused by some muppets needing to be removed by Police at Rugby these factors seemed odd. Pathed as slow lines from Euston to Rugby. We ran at about 85mph...

Railway worker fatally struck by train at Purley (06/11)

Most transport related crew work a form of flexible rostering, though it may be called something different. All are highly regulated though. The most extreme is probably aircrew where they not only deal with different times but different time zones too. As a example of that, a crew left...

Has Wigan Wallgate ever had diverted Intercity terminators?

I hadnt spotted the notes there. Thanks for pointing them out. The Liverpool ECS idea could make sense as it is obviously a morning photograph and not an evening one. If the 47 was carrying a headcode that would put it 1976 or earlier. I think the OLE at Wigan was around 1973. As pointed out...

The UK's most 'classic' medium-sized stations

It seems fully used which is always a good start though the look in more London Underground than Northern England

The UK's most 'classic' medium-sized stations

Some of my favourites are already on here, Huddersfield and Dumfries in particular. The platforms at Selby also have a kind of faded grandeur from bygone times too. I do like the functional Fort William station, probably because any journey to or from there has an air of romance to it rather...

Trivia: Railway stations with TVMs inside of the ticket barrier area.

Chorley has a sensible set up that is made odd when Northern put a temporary barrier with an inspector in place. There are two entrances to the station, one for the Manchester bound platform and the main entrance with ticket office on the Preston bound platform. A subway links the platforms...
