    Trainee driver ‘training contracts’

Never seen it enforced …. The legal fees alone just wouldn’t justify it ..(£5k wouldn’t even cover barrister fees) peoples circumstances change all the time and the chances of a judge ruling against an individual in anything but exceptional circumstances would be unheard of.

Moving TOC as a PQA or experienced driver

I’ve had the button get stuck more than once (as it doesn’t cancel until it’s released )… frantically wacking it til it pops out again before the brake comes in

The new absence triggers for Network Rail. What does it mean?

They usually are used pro rata for part time workers .. if you’re sick for 4 days but only supposed to be in work for 2 … you’ve still had a week off sick .. otherwise it would be unfair to the full time worker who’s sick for the same period but incurred double the days recorded , then he’d be...

GWR - Trainee Train Driver (Talent Pool) - Bristol/Westbury (27/02/23)

Several at the time of my training were staying at premier inn in Reading during rules as they lived far and wide … when you get yr trainee contract it has a clause which states you must relocate before handling commences ...I’d say just be up front about your circumstances and how you plan to...

    Eyesight Requirements

They had like a 3d viewer which you look into and you see 6 road signs. 4 look the same but one looks closer and another looks further away than the others .. you just had to pick which ones … then it flashes a little light randomly to each side of the eye pieces and you just call out left or...

    Assessments & Medicals discussion

very much Doubt that just not taking it would be a fail… I was part way through an application with Arriva when I took the VSE for freightliner and failed it. I thought it wouldn’t count as the VSE was done at home .. not a test centre … but Arriva said it still counted and terminated my...

    Assessments & Medicals discussion

If you fail a test for one toc and it’s a requirement for the other ..it will effectively kill off both applications… but not all tocs require VSE so if you failed that for avanti but it’s not a requirement for cross country then the cross country application won’t be affected … you’ll need to...

Relocation for a Trainee Driver Jobs

When I signed my trainee driver contract it contained a clause that if I lived outside the 1hrtravel time that I must commit to relocate by the time my handling hours commenced. Study Materials for Psychometric Assessment

I have to agree with this … and yep it is harsh but if anyone‘s struggling with the tests to the point they’d consider spending £1.5k on trying to pass them .. then they probably just won’t make it through the rest of the training anyway .if you're still winging it after a year … there’s nothing...

    Train Driver Tests

The toc will look at your scores and if you’ve exceed their criteria on any then you shouldnt need to retake the all tests … and you’ll only need to repeat those where you haven’t. when I was in a similar situation..I was invited to the test day and only retook 2 of them. On the rest .. I was...

    Private Psychometric Test - Opinions

Can’t see it ‘sky rocketing’ your chances as it claims … at best you’ll pass and be in the same position as all the other applicants or at worst you’ll fail and will have done your money and needlessy ‘lost a life’ in the process. throughout the entire process of becoming a qualified driver...

DFFT - Driver fault finding test.

This test is not about knowing what’s wrong with the train or fixing it so you don’t need any knowledge of trains whatsoever… it’s about how you think and can you understand and interpret information and instructions then take the right actions …. The train and the faults on the test are purely...

DFFT - Driver fault finding test.

It’s not really about the functionality of the train it’s more to do with identifying faults, prioritising them and taking the correct actions in dealing with them

DFFT - Driver fault finding test.

youll get all the info relevant to the test on the day and you keep it during the test to refer back to when you need it … it’s not a memory test
