    More National Express destinations axed

This was something discussed between a few of us at work earlier this week, and came up with a hypothetical prediction of what may happen to the network. The plethora of one and two per day services are withdrawn, but replaced by a network of shorter but more frequent routes. For example, the...

    Go Cornwall Bus

NPTI (who run the Traveline SW site) are aware of issues, which will be resolved in due course. It's just been a challenge for them too.

First South West (Kernow & Buses of Somerset)

Bear in mind with Oxfordshire, most of the Thames Travel network was run under tender to the county council, who decided to withdraw all bus subsidies. So credit has to be given for keeping some of those services going commercially.

Fastest growing bus routes in UK?

The X34 was rarely that quiet. And I was a commuter on that for over four years (plus also regulated it at the Leigh end on at least one day a week). It was busy then, but Vantage has always had the speed advantage. If the 32 and X34 route saw on-line improvements, then I would have imagined...

Bus Routes With Inaccurate Destinations (Or Could Destinations That Could Be Improved/ Renamed)

But Sunningdale is a small cul-de-sac which is going to have absolutely NO meaning to passengers. You might as well put "North of Preston", or "Middle of Lancashire" if you're going to be that pedantic. That's why if you want to use Sunningdale, you need to show it beneath Broughton. Even if...

Bus Routes With Inaccurate Destinations (Or Could Destinations That Could Be Improved/ Renamed)

It's within the Broughton bounds, so is correct. LCC also refer to the terminus as Broughton, and it is their service. It doesn't have to terminate in the dead centre to show the place name. Sunningdale isn't going to mean anything to the vast majority of passengers. The only thing I could...

    Go Cornwall Bus

It is a pity that Optare no longer produce a SE length bus, as that would solve things - even an Alero is only 10 cm longer. I would imagine the only thing comparable in terms of length and width would be a Mellor Tucana, which is used by TfL on Dial a Ride services. However, seating capacities...

    Southern Vectis Fare Query

Max fare is £4.50 single across the Island, and that includes any transfers.

    Stuarts Coaches

The route would be eligible for BSOG in its entirety, it is just that the BSOG for tendered part of the route will go to SPT. Cheeky, but clever given they wouldn't get the BSOG on the dead trip to/from depot.

    First Dorset X53

The X53 was cut in May 2016. The X52 was introduced to cover the service to/from Exeter, whilst the X54 served the Poole - Weymouth part. If I recall correctly, this was done so that consistent times could be provided on the far reaches, as the timetable on the core part of the route sees...

How much to run a bus per hour?

It was Brian Souter and Ann Gloag who owned shares, but not any more as the entire company was sold to Canadian firm NFI in May last year. As for amounts, I've been told £200k for an E200 MMC (full size) and £250k for a standard E400 MMC. That would come with nowadays standard features, such as...

*Facepalm* is all I can say to that!

    Dog on seat.

Given the amount of fur we found on the seat, that would have taken some doing. But my point still stands. Even if it was off someone's clothes, the amount concerned would be minimal. For someone's back and bum, that would need fur to go from dog to seat to clothes to bus seat. I would expect...

    Dog on seat.

So you can deal with the repercussions of someone suffering an allergic reaction to sitting on a dog's malted fur. It's happened to me, it's happened to my daughter. My daughter had a massive eczema flare-up that took weeks to settle down, because she sat on a tip-up seat that was covered in fur.

First South West (Kernow & Buses of Somerset)

To put it into perspective, there are two companies based in the building where I work. There are about 100 whose registered address is at the same building. Why? Because the other company is a firm of accountants. The purpose of a registered address is for legal reasons, where statutory mail...
